(Draught at De Drie Dorstige Herten, Utrecht, 15 Feb 2024) Hazy golden colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of peaches, bread and herbs. Malty, fruity taste with peaches, orange, bread, herbs and a mild spicy bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well balanced Belgian style blonde. Nice one.

Strongish Belgian style blonde from this brewery in Amstelveen south of Amsterdam, bottle from the Mitra shop in Lelystad. Medium thick, tightly 'Brugse kant'-like lacing, eggshell-white, mousy head breaking in the middle but generally retaining very well, over a lightly hazy 'dirty' orange-tinged peach blonde beer, equally misty and deeper orangey peach with sediment. Aroma of ripe banana, apricot, soggy white bread, melting powder sugar, fried red apples, pond water, vague cloves, cooked carrots, honey, cold camomile tea, raw potato juice, touch of orange in the background. Sweetish onset, white candi syrup poured over clear banana ester (a tad bubblegummy even) with pineapple, peach and pear side notes, medium to softish carbonation for this type of beer, smooth and slightly fluffy mouthfeel. Bready, doughy malt base with a very light caramelly edge somewhere, smooth and easygoing with fruity esters and spicy phenols (clove) dancing on top, towards a florally hop bitter finish, with some powdery yeastiness and breadiness lingering, albeit in a rather restrained way; 'jenever'-ish alcohol is noticeable in the end, but luckily does not become wry or obnoxious anywhere (even if at below 8% ABV, it still should not have been noticeable in the first place). Lingering leafy and very vaguely citrus peel-like hop bitterness provides sufficient balance against the initial sweetness, which in this case is a good thing. A tripel of sorts, making a somewhat bland and amateurish impression like countless tripels in Belgium; feels a tad thinnish and 'empty' and is not entirely free of (albeit faint) off-flavours, but admittedly the confident hopping saves a lot here. Still rather boring, and adding very little to the - nowadays - vibrant Dutch craft beer scene.

Bottle. Amber color. Hazy. Yeast and hints of pear in the aroma. Malty sweet, floral vinous flavor with soft yeasty notes. Not unpleasant but certainly not great.

Thuis uit een flesje, bezoek H&I. Troebele gouden kleur, goed schuim (bij H niet). Zoetige smaak, neigt naar weizen. Lekker wel.

0.33 l bottle from ’Tabak’s Wijndiscount & Bierwinkel’ at 6.5% abv, best before February 2017. Clear, golden yellow with a huge, foamy, stable, white head. Sweetish, fruity-spicy aroma of ginger, apricot, clove and some vanilla. Sweetish, yeasty-spicy, slightly fruity taste of clove, ginger, apricot and some vanilla, followed by a medium long, yeasty-spicy, peppery and rather bitter finish. Medium body, effervescent mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Quite nice, resembles their ’Zonnegloed’.
