Monsters’ Park is a hulking, cantankerous imperial stout sporting a brawny malt bill and a dry, lingering finish. Its massive roast profile blends with an eye-popping coffee, chocolate, and toast character, which combine to provide a monumentally robust & aggressive experience. Monsters’ Park has an incredible chocolate and roast nose that is surprisingly balanced for the higher alcohol content. The flavor is complex, with chocolate, roast, dark fruit, coffee, and more that linger as you sip.

22 oz bottle poured. A dark and dense chocolate brown pour. Huge chocolate heavy beer here. Mint and chocolate forward nose, with a subtle cherry like fruit. Flavor is also chocolate dominated. Total dessert beer. Chocolate Did he. Thick and creamy. Slight cherry. Fun beer.

Bottle at the 10th Boise Imperial Stout Tasting. Dark brown, near black pour with a ring of tan head. Lots of roast, some cocoa, and a little smoke in the aroma. A sturdy flavor profile is heavy in roast, hints of bittersweet cocoa. Light smoke. Haven’t had any of the barreled versions, but I bet this makes a great base beer; tasty enough on it’s own too.

Draft at Ale Arsenal. Black and inky, slick and slippery, bold and boozy. Straight up, in your face imperial stout. Perfect to sip and enjoy. No need to rush on this one...

Bottle. Base beer. How interesting. My first thought on taking a sip was that it has a bit of smoke to it; now I read the description. That smokiness gets totally lost in all of the barrel aged versions I have tried. Anway... Pours opaque black, small tan head, a bit bubbly but nice residual and good lacing. Aroma has a note of smoke and loads of cocoa, molasses, dark roast. Flavor follows, light plus sweet, medium bitter, nice smokey note along with baking cocoa, molasses. Unfortunately the smoke brings with it the faintest hint of burned rubber, but its not enough to really detract. I like the fact that it isn’t crazy sweet, and has more of a cocoa/roast base than a lot of English Impys that are more on the molasses/licorice side of things. Full body, mouthfeel a bit less creamy than the best but not bad. Clearly a solid straight, un-barreled, un-adjunctified, imperial stout.

@Rex, Umeå (backlog). Black colour with a small creamy beigeish brown head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malts, liquorice, some alcohol as well as some slight wooden notes. Flavour is liquorice, some roasted notes, chocolate, mild wood as well as some vanilla and mild milky notes. Smooth and very pleasant.
