Bed of Nails is crafted as an American ode to a traditional English brown. A light hop addition balances the natural sweetness present in the specialty malt. This beer’s delicate body and dry finish allow flavors of toffee and dark fruit to shine through.

In my jack lambert glass this smells like old higher gravity lager. It's eye is dark brown and bold. Taste is aged higher gravity lager as well with just a tad of dark beer flavors. Metallic thick rich higher alky flavors. Pretty good beery kick for a couple of bucks. Yes, now that I think about it, it does come across somewhat like a real old county english brown, heheheh. Finish is near cloying toffee and metallic medicine. Strong dark brew personality overall. Strong, without going baltic, yeah.

Dark brown with lasting head. Aroma and flavour have a huge amount of sweet malts. Hints of caramel and milk chocolate. Smooth. Well balanced and sessionable.

Clear amber brown colour, tall frothy beige head, slowly collapsing, fair lacing. Aroma roasted malts, grain, dark bread, caramel, light chocolate, bit nutty. Taste medium sweet and bitter, roasty, grainy, light chocolate. Malty sweetbitter aftertaste, chocolate and nutty notes. Medium body, watery to oily texture, soft carbonation, well-balanced and tasty, very nice.

Bottle @ home. Hazy dark red to red-brown color, average sized off-white head. Smell and taste malts, caramel, brown sugar, a touch of vanilla (?) or toffee sweetness. A slight malt bitter touch. Decent body and carbonation. Quite ok.

Bottle from Whole Foods Market, Wilmington, North Carolina. Hazy mid-brown with a thin head. Has some chocolate in its darker malt character and a cola-like sweet nose.
