Dark brown, opaque with a light brown head. The aroma is rich in pine, lemon, and light malt. The body is full, silky, smooth, and low in carbonation. The taste is juicy lemon, pine, with a slight pine bitterness and a hint of herbal notes. The late finish is lemony. The hoppiness is nice, but the Brown Ale character has been lost somewhere.

[33cl can from Beer52.] A lifeless deep mahogany brown coloured pour with a trace of beige head and looking far short of 33cl in my usual glass; vegetal aroma with some pine that clears the nose; sweet malty body with a persistent bitterness from charred grains; then a syrupy finish with a piney bitterness, and a lasting warmth in the belly.

Very dark brown, tan head
A - slightly odd aroma, a bit like rubber
F - dark malts, a bit of chocolate and treacle, slight soap from the hops
Silky smooth mouthfeel, nothing like newcastle brown
It sort of works even with the odd flavours and aromas

330ml can via Beer52. Poured into my Gordon thistle shaped glass at home on 10th February 2026. Dark mahogany body, tanned roof of solid bubbles. Malty, very malty, extremely malty in fact. Pleasant bitterness to the brew, but did I mention how malty it is?
