Goodish beer, not on the scale of a great belgian dubbel. But it is close-ish. Yeast phenols are there, just too sweet. And not perfectly brewed. BeerTemple ams

(Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 1 March 2020) Dark brown colour with foamy, beige head. Malty nose with caramel, dried fruit and dark bread. Malty taste with notes of caramel, chocolate, dark bread, brown sugar, raisins, hints of wood and a mild spicy bitterness. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well balanced. Very nice.

Sample at Upstate Craft Beer. Clear dark amber-brown color with a medium light beige head that diminishes gradually to an outer ring. Small patches of lace. Dark fruit, yeast and malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of caramel malt, earthy yeast, raisin and spice. The finish is sweet with a malt and fruit aftertaste. Decent overall.

On tap at the brewpub. Translucent dark brown with medium/small beige head. Aroma is dark malt, medium body, low carbonation, and good small-bubble lacing. Taste is rich dark malt, plum raisin, hints of cheery, and deep rich molasses. Very flavorful, but some harshness.

Location: Draft at the brewery, 2/23/15
Aroma: It has a caramel and nut aroma, spice as well, not much of the expected dark fruit.
Appearance: Pours a brown color, with a reddish orange hue, and a beige-brown colored head.
Flavor: Mid sweet, not overly so, clean spice/yeast flavor, that finishes sweet and nutty.
Palate: Clean and easy drinking considering the ABV, a soft carbonation, and a mildly sticky feel.
Overall Impression: This is not exactly what I expect to find in a a traditional Dubbel, but this is a tasty beer none the less. I actually quite enjoyed this slightly different take, though I'm not sure I wouldn't have just stuck it in the generic Belgian Strong Ale category.
