Aromas of honey, straw and malt. The taste has a strong element of roasted malt plus lemon and the merest hint of chocolate. Quite a nice palate. An interesting beer.

Sampled this one at Where the Wild Beers Are, 6/7/14
Only non-sour/wild style beer of the fest. Pours a brown color with a lighter brown head. Some toasty and tasty stuff. Made for a nice mix-in with so many similarly styled beers.

12 ounce can from Wine Warehouse Charlottesville. Pours a dark brown color with a large foamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, floral notes, stone fruits, bubblegum, a bit of nuttiness. The taste is chocolate, roast, herbal notes, bubblegum, cherries. Thin-medium bodied. Solid.

Can - pours dark ruby, nearly black - significant tan head that dissipates fairly quickly - nose is mineral, moderate roast, tobacco, bittersweet chocolate - moderate carbonation - quite dry, with strong mineral and dry, roasty character - moderate bitterness - some earthy, leafy, autumnal qualities - maybe a hint of smoke - the mineral is a little strong, but this is a fairly solid rendition.

Shaker pint draft at Barley’s Brewhaus in Leawood, Kansas. The pour is black, with a tight one inch tan head. The head falls slowly with nice lacing. The aroma is clean and fresh Schwarzbier, roast and toast cereal grain malt, along with a clean earthiness. The taste is a balance between the roast notes of the malt, along with the clean earth which dries out the after taste nicely. The palate is light bodied, active carbonation and the roast mineral dry finish. Very drinkable. Well made version of a style I like quite a bit.

Can courtesy of...Trent!
I pour and I get 1/2 tannish foam, 1/2 pitch black liquid. The foam is shrinking and leaving some lacing behind.
The smell is really bitter. Dark chocolate and or cocoa with some pine would be my guess.
Cocoa up front that has some milk like qualities, the bitterness is more tame here than in the smell. I still get hints of pine but more so from roasted cocoa? Ha, that sounds funny.
On the light side of medium bodied, lively carbonation.
This is okay to my palate.

Can, 10C. Nearly black with a light tan head that lasts OK. Aroma is earthy with Cola, mild roast, a little chocolate. And so it tastes. Fairly dry, no obvious bitterness. Quaffable with some intrigue.
