Notes from January 2011 Time to get tough. Fridge needs clearing. More winter warmers. Hazed, Vienna lager-sorta color. Inch of insecure cream-colored head. Smell is a sharp, soured & browned. Thick with sticky malt & sprinkled with bitter nutmeg. Smells like an infection, except I can't tell if just the additives at work. First off, feel is nearly flat. Frothy & thin. Tangy, lightly honeyed, bit limey, tea-ish. Empty spices, flat grain finish. Bit of whiskey. A flat score of 1 is reserved for beers that actually make you nauseous, while this was just misshapen. ...And here comes the headache.

(Draught at Man in the Moon, Stockholm, 31 Jan 2024) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty nose with notes of crisp-bread, orange and apricots. Malty taste with crisp-bread, dried apricots, orange, a touch of cinnamon and a mild spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well balanced. Nice one.

This was poured into a pokal since I thought it was a lager.
The appearance was a hazy brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about less than thirty seconds. Light lacing slides into the beer.
The smell had a light chocolate over top of some ginger and allspice.
The taste was sweet running through the chocolate. A light sweet chocolate aftertaste leads into a semi - sweet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation came across fairly smooth and slightly creamy.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good \" winter\"-esque lager I could have again.

Bottle at my parents late night. Pours ruby orange. Nose is light holiday spice and malt. Tastes if boozy caramel, light chocolate, some cherry, nutmeg and cinnamon, malt, and touch of gingerbread. Clean palate.

Maroon pour. Average carbonation. Some caramelized malt. Light bitter and a little wood in this. Some sweetness on finish. Not a great integration. Bottle.

Pours clear brown into a shaker. Off-white head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Sour roasted nut aromas. Sweet nutmeg upfront turning to sour apple and caramel in the lasting finish.

Bottle at the Governors Island BrewFest. Not bad but struck me as a little weird. Pours amber-brown with a medium, white head. Lots of spice in the aroma, along with plenty of malt, caramel and light toffee. Flavor is sweet and loaded with holiday spices. Also some notes of orange and plum. Medium bodied with average carbonation and perhaps a bit syrupy. Finishes sweet with lingering spices. Maybe I just had this beer way too far out of season.
