Pygmy Owl is an IPA with full fledged hop taste and aroma, yet is remarkably low in alcohol. In fact, it clocks in at only 4.2% ABV. An IPA with full flavor, but without the harsh bitterness. And the best part, you can have more than one without getting that drunkied up feeling.

Thanks Frank.
This was poured into a becher pint glass.
The appearance was a cloudy burnt yellow slightly gold color casting a subtle finger’s worth of white foamy head. Some messy lace.
The aroma had some peach/apricot sweetness up front with some lemon crisp pulpy sweetness and a sly amount of juice. Light grassiness at the end.
The flavor took the prior mentioned aromas and added in a little bit of piney hop bitterness. Dry sort of piney and peachy/apricot sort of aftertaste and finish.
The palate was the obvious (light bodied and sessionable). Carbonation felt fine and the ABV felt as projected.
Overall, well, my question to the brewer is why are they putting this out as a Winter seasonal? Who drinks session IPA’s in the Winter? Oh yeah, hey Frank \"get off my lawn.\" I’m supposed to say that for every session IPA I drink and rate on this website from now on.

Bottle: Clear, light yellow-gold with a thin white head. Slightly plasticky, lemon/grapefruit scent. Taste is astonishingly weak....dismal....watery lemon, grain malt. Really bad.

Bottle. Lactic peach/orange, caramel malt and orange peel aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Lightly sweet lactic citrus, very light malt, and moderately bitter grapefruit peel flavor. Extremely light body. Plastic aftertaste. Not good.

Anemic looking straw color from a bottle, ample white head with good lacing. Aroma of morning piss, flavor of a very hoppy domestic lager, watery watery watery. Not so good.

Crisp, golden coloured body with a very thin, single centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of fresh light citrus hops with hints of light grain and some mellow malts - not much going on here. Light-bodied; Strong hoppy flavour at first with a good citrus, tropical fruit and floral flavour showing a good deal of interesting hops and a very small malt backbone. Aftertaste shows a little citrus twang with nothing unusual, unexpected or unwanted - good hops with not much malt or body and an easy-drinking Light IPA that shows well. Overall, decent for sure and on the verge of good. Not in the level of a great Light IPA, but worth trying if you like the style - given the ratings, I was expecting much worse, but this was not bad at all. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle, purchased from Siciliano’s in Grand Rapids, Michigan on 11-September-2015 for US$1,69 sampled at home in Washington on 15-September-2015, just four days later.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 10/28/2015. Pours slightly hazy bright golden straw color with a 12 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, light pine, cracker, bread, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/floral hops and light-moderate pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, cracker, bread, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon/orange peel, pine, cracker, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Good balance and solid robustness of citrus/pine hops and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth and moderately crisp/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.2%. Overall this is a nice session IPA. All around good balance and solid robustness of citrus/piney hops and light-moderate pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.
