Bottle. Coffee, chocolate, and a fain black licorice aroma. Black brown with a large tan head. Light roast coffee, strong black licorice, and light ashy flavor. I don’t like licorice, so I can’t be objective about this one. LIght body, soft carbonation.

Dark. Bitter. Thin watered body. Just ok. Would rather have real thick Guinness.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a large foamy dark tan head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was dryish, roasty and woody with hints of chocolate and licorice. The flavor was bitter and dry with a notes of chocolate, anise, wood and roasty malts. Long finish of chocolate, some wood and roasty malts. A bit thin in body but smooth. Ok.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thick, four centimetre tall deep brown head. Aroma of toasted malt, a bit of caramel and a hint of cardboard - fairly mild and not showing much at all. Medium-bodied; Assertive roasted malts with a bit of milk, some caramel and a little alcohol warmth. Aftertaste shows some rather earthy flavours, a bit of a lactic sugar note and a hint of cherries noticeable. Overall, not as bad as I was expecting, but not a great beer - some odd malts and a bit of sugars are okay, but a relatively mild and unassuming beer. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 24-February-2013 for US$0.98 sampled at home in Washington on 27-February-2013.
Well made Irish Dry Stout.

12oz bottle. Killians was my first favorite beer, so I had to try this. Black-red-brown color. Massive beige head. I have trouble believing a macro wouldn’t add some sort of sweetener. Tolerable, but never good, this is sort of like a macro Schwarzbier in a way, with a touch of oddly artificial roasty Stout character, maybe a hint of smoke. Bland, lifeless offering.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours very dark with a slight ruby hue and a half finger of nut brown head. Aroma of light coffee and chocolate with a hint of something slightly sour. Taste is light bitter and light sour. Dark chocolate, coffee and some slightly tart green apples. Light bodied with a thin, watery texture. Soft carbonation and not much of a finish. Overall, it’s ok. There are a lot better stouts out there though.

Black of course. Roasted grain. Very simple, not much going on but the flavor is ok. Dry finish.
