Cask at the moon under water Watford Jdw. A light hazed burnt orange coloured pour with a a lasting creamish head. Aroma is alcohol, creamy wheat, orange rind, banana bread, little harsh. Palate is semi sweet, some alcohol bite, creamy wheat, orange rind, savory cracker, vanilla creaminess. Some harsh alcohol in the finish. Meh.

Golden amber with a frothy white head and a sweet orange aroma. Fresh, light to medium bodied, fruity with a yeasty edge, some chewy wheat character, a touch of floral bitterness and a dry bittersweet finish.

[Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading.] A pale golden amber pour with a thin white head that laces the glass completely; light orangey aroma with; silky smooth grainy body with an orange taste and some yeast; then dry and bready. A satisfying sipping beer.

Cask at Wheatsheaf, Stoke. Pours a golden amber with minimal foamy off-white head and good lacing. There’s a restrained aroma of oranges and tropical fruit. In the mouth it is sweet and smooth with a deep creamy texture. Floral hops and wheat flavours (bubble gum, banana) to the fore with oranges also prominent. The alcoholic strength becomes evident after a while as do some hints of citrus. Finish is juicy and a little boozy. This is rather nice – an unusual combination of flavours and not overdosing on either.

Wetherspoon Spring Beer Festival 2026, Beer#9. I wasn't a huge fan of the original version, this clear golden ale a slightly better fan of. Perhaps the better depth gives a better wheat ale character this time, but still struggling with the orange part. Somewhat breaded nose.
