Kosmic Mother Funk is a one of a kind Belgian-style ale that aged in Hungarian oak tuns with our own strains of wild yeast and bacteria to create a tart, funky, and complex beer. We added a small amount of Belgian candi sugar for a hint of sweetness that compliments notes of dark fruits, cherry, cocoa, and vanilla. Our Grand Cru, Kosmic Mother Funk’s extrême tartness is matched by its complex range of fruit and spice flavors.

750mL bottled 2016, drunk 5/7/23. Clear, dark mahogany with big garnet tints. Large, dark beige head showing low retention. Lots of acetic but it's well-aged and more graceful at this point, with more of a cherry-balsamic than any explosively sour/intense character. Still seems rather malty, with big fruitiness from yeast/bacteria and plentiful honey, caramel, and modest oak. In the mouth it's a bit flabby by this point. It's got the general idea down pretty well, showing the decent cherry-raisin-fig-prune-vanilla-balsamic character of a Flemish Sour, but ultimately it is just too sweet. If this was about 33% drier than we'd really be talking.

Draught at the brewery. Murky light brown. Again, not much head. So doesn't look that good. All kinds of barrel, balsamic. Cherry and lemon...smells like it's going to be austere. Tart...like bracing acidity. There remains this underlying sweetness to provide some balance, but it's definitely sharp. Big barrel and almost chocolate note as well. So decent complexity.

On tap at DRBT. Pours a dark copper with small frothy beige head that lasts. The aroma is oak, leather, vinegar, dark fruit. Thin body, similar flavors to nose, acidic, very sour, enjoyed this.

Sampled on draft at the Headkeeper this beer poured a black color with a small foamy beige head that faded and left no lacing. The aroma was tart and sour with red wine and vinegar notes. The flavor was tart and sour with vinegar, soy sauce, cherry, red wine and a light yeasty note. Long finish. Medium body but undercarbonated.
