Originally rated June 2004. This beer is now called "Wellington Special Pale Ale" (formerly Special Cream Pale Ale). Wellington has just change their labels... but this pale ale is still creamy. Beautiful amber colour, it’s nice foamy head is long lasting (especially for this type of style). Good amount of lacing. Aromas of caramel and hops. Full body flavour with mild bitterness, and a smooth finish. Very tight small bubble carbonation. Still, a creamy thin head is left at the end. Great 4.5% ABV pale ale.

an utter failure in the pale ale dept. in fact the only thing it got right was that like any pale ale its not very pale, but i wont give it ratings based on colour alone

(can) clear amber colour with tall tan head; aromas of stewed and dried fruit, metallic aroma in the beginning; watery palate; watery flavour - not terrible - just feels weak and watered down. Tried again in 2013 - still the same - unimpressive, boring, could be just another macro

Canette 473ml.

Bottle courtesy of a traveling colleague. The beer pours a clear pale yellow-orange color with a thin off-white head that recedes quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Sweet malt and honey in the nose with a touch of hops. Light body with flavors of grainy malt, honey and fruit. Mild hops are present as well. The finish is sweet with herbal notes and a malty aftertaste. Not offensive in any way, but ultimately not distinguishable from the many other beers just like it.

Light amber ale with a good off-white head. Malty aroma with herbal notes, slightly off. Crisp malts with a sweet finish and faint hops in final. Medium bodied. Not as good as i remembered it though.

Pours a dark copper colour with a white head that doesn't last long. SCents include a moderate doughy / earth aroma with sugary scents. Initial sip offered a toasted grass flavour with more doughy notes. Palate was a little bread / wheat like with a smooth finish.

Nut brown. Softly malty and nutty with some bitterness on the end. Balanced but unremarkable.
