Dry-Hopped Pale Ale

Deep golden, medium bodied and nicely bitter, Hopyard Pale is exceptional in the West Coast style. Generous hopping in the boil and further dry-hopping produce a fruity/floral aroma and refreshingly bitter finish. A true thirst quencher!

Draft - Light hops and caramel notes. Clearish dark gold with a decent white head. Nondescript hops and light bitterness dominated by malt and caramel. Very old school.

Bottle from NB Liquor. Clear medium copper under a small off white head leaving some sparse lace. Nose is light bread supporting citrus, pine and floral notes. Lightly sweet with citrus bitterness slightly more subdued than the nose. Medium slick mouth with average carbonation and a medium bitter finish. 7+/3/7-/3/13

341ml bottle. Pours a hazy golden orange with an average, short lived, white head that laces. Hoppy aroma of grapefruit, pine, grass and caramel. Hoppy grapefruit flavour with caramel malt, pine, grass and a resiny, dry, bitter finish. Medium body with an oily texture and average carbonation. A pleasant surprise.

Single bottle from the brewery in Halifax. Pours a clean light-amber colour with not much carbonation, but the head is beautiful, creamy, frothy, long lasting and with some soapy lace. Nice fresh hop nose at first pour, but then grain comes out with some caramel notes. The taste is milder with a little grass and some nice bitterness getting stronger in the finish. Cereal grain lingers mildly. Not a bad Pale Ale.

Bottle in Parrsboro. It pours hazy golden - orange with a decent white head. The nose is doughy, creamy, minerals, orange peel, apricot, toasted grass and light floral notes. The taste is crisp, bitter, minerals, peppery spice, bitter orange, waxy grapefruit, grassy bitterness, apricot, dough and cracker with a dry finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Crisp, bitter and thirst quenching. Decent apa.

On tap at The Snooty Fox. Pours a golden amber color with a huge off white head that persists for a while. The aroma is filled with butterscotch and popcorn. I find it hard to get passed the butter, but the bartender assures me that this is a west coast style IPA. The flavor follows the aroma Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation. I couldn’t get past the butter but other people tell me this is great

A hazed copper amber IPA with a thick lacing mocha head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with treacle, pungent floral hops, light meaty notes. In mouth, a smooth caramel malt with nice British hops, lightly resinous, grassy notes, not bad.
