The first days of Carton Brewing were spent tracking a bright purple path through our new building from our backyard mulberry tree. We decided that if mulberry juice was going to get that deep into the brewery, it probably should get into a beer as well. Stealing a process from Berliners, we let the lactics in a wheated mash sour up, accentuating the bright side of the mulberry’s profile. Meant for quaffing on balmy summer days when there is no reason to avoid direct sunlight, drink Monkey Chased The Weasel because there is more than a moon at the top of the summer.

Draft sample at Cranbury BuyRite. Hazy pale gold color. Small creamy white head. Tart citric malt aroma. Notes of sour apple, berry, biscuit and wheat. Sweet at first, then dry in finish. Some grapefruit in finish as well. As suggested, I drank this on a hot, sunny day.

30/V/17 - 1Pt. can @ home - BB: n/a, canned: VI/16/16 (2017-693) Thanks to Tinus for sharing the can!

Clear pale yellow beer, small creamy white head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: sweetish, fruity, bit yeasty. Not very intense. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: sourish, fruity, acidic, lemon juice, lemon rinds. Aftertaste: sourish, fruity, pretty nice, some apricot skin, lemony touch again. Decent, but the mulberry isn't very convincing (any more?).

16 oz can thanks to Ed’s FBW contest. Aroma is fruity, SweeTarts, sugary, floral, grainy. Pours hazy golden with a collapsing off-white head. Taste is sour (8/10) and acidic, fruity (kind of a raisin and overripe dark fruit character). Interesting.

On tap at Augur's Well, pours a hazy pale golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of lacto, revealing abbey yogurty quality. Flavour is complex and thick, with shitloads of yogurt, a fairly prominent salty quality, and light tartness. Such a milky quality to it. Wonderfully made. Excellent.

Runder, deutlich saurer Antrunk. Dabei ist von den Maulbeeren wenig erkennbar. Die Säure steigert sich leicht, süffig, ab dem hinteren Mittelteil mit deutlich bitteren Noten. Säuerlicher, trocken herber Abgang. Gut! 2/11/11/11/5/11
