This easy-drinking session beer pours a deep golden color. It smells slightly floral and herbal, thanks to a hopback full of Cascade and Centennial hops. Gold is tasty and refreshing, with a round mouthfeel. In 2010, it took awards at both the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear golden color with a thin white head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of grassy hops and pale malts with a bit of a biscuity vibe. The taste is citrus hops, pale bready malts and a bit of a buttery note. Medium bodied. Pretty good.

At a tasting, thanks Shachar, very little head which dissapears quickly, clear and a little deep gold colour, flowey aroma with rose petals and guava, flavour of tea, grapefruit and peach, very little bitterness making it feel diluted, strange sour aftertaste. Not sure what to make of it.

Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks Shachar. Beer of the Month club. Clear golden color. Floral aroma with grapefruit and some tropical fruits notes. Flavor starts with some sweetish malt, a bit bready and a bit grainy, and then turns into a bitter finish with some citrus, lychee and peach notes. Medium-bodied.

My beer is labeled Heavy Seas Gold Ale. I’m led to believe this is the same thing. 12 oz bottle into English pint. Okay, I have low expctations for every beer labeled gold or blonde, and this beer is no different. I think this style is for ale what pale lagers are to lagers, that is, the blandest beers out there. Aroma is citrus powder, cotton candy, maybe some mango??? More interesting than most beers of this ilk. Pours golden with minimal head, decent lacing. Medium carbonation. Aftertaste is like a wet hayfield. These beers are usually designed by brewers as a gateway beer to more quality suds for the novice or meant for non-craft beer drinkers who somehow end up at their brewpubs. This isn’t too bad, but it is what it is: quaffable, inoffensive, not very interesting but very drinkable.

Bottle. Poured a clear gold with a white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma has notes of floral and citrus hops with an underlying sweet malts. Flavor is light with a mainly sweet grain and honey with slight hop undertone.

July 2009 Beer of the Month Club , 8/2/09

Aroma: Grainy, floral, light fruits, caramel, honey
Appearance: Clear gold color, minimal head, light lacing
Flavor: Light blond flavor, lots of malts, and some light fruity hops
Palate: Light body, an alright (not great) mouthfeel
Overall Impression: Thanks a lot Beer of the Month Club for sending me another beer from the state I live in! Really? Can't you send me something from somewhere a little bit away from here? That's just annoying...
Anyway, this beer was OK, I'm not a huge blond fan (when it comes to beer anyway), but this was drinkable. Eh, not much else to say, it was just OK...

Amber ale with a thick lacing off white head. Aroma of caramel and English hops. In mouth, a good caramel base, butterscotch, lightly oily mouthfeel. Medium bodied. 3$ glass at Diamond Tavern (Hilton Baltimore).

Pour is a golden with a white head. The aroma is the best thing about the beer. Some grain and toasted malt with the very so slight presence of hops. Flavor is more watery, with again some grain and a small hop lingering in the backround. Nothing special for a usually good brewer.
