Deep dark brown coloured body with a bit of a copper glow and a small, but noticeable two centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of light grain, rye, a bit of bread, some noticeable yeast and a small amount of caramelised sugars, but not much hops at all in this one. Medium-bodied; Sharp rye flavours at first with more grain and pungent notes along with some herbal qualities, but very little in terms of hops or sugars, this one is focused on the grain/rye properties. Aftertaste shows more of a dry and bitter beer, but that is from the malts/rye than from any hops, which are slightly noticeable at the end and show up as grassy. Overall, a decent beer when looking at it in terms of a specialty grain beer, but not so good in the IPA light or even as an APA, which this just didn't have enough hop flavours to even make it in that category. Not really worth trying unless you love Rye for some reason, and even then you are probably better off with a Reuben and a real IPA. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Total Wine in Fairfax, Virginia on 10-September-2017 for US$2,79 sampled at home in Washington on 28-September-2017.

Lots of citrus and some decent rye background. I like rye pas because they actually have some malt aroma beyond the hops and this is no exception. Pours cloudy golden with great head and lacing. Tap at galaxy hut.
