Draft courtesy of argo0, thanks! Clear golden color, no head or lacing. Aroma of summer fruits. Taste is boozy with light spice and some other descriptive adjective that I can’t quite make out in my notes. It starts with a "c."

Draft at Dexters. Filtered copper-orange-brown. Thin, steady off-white head. Pretty much exactly what you’d expect from a Lagunitas IPA. Solid piny citrus hop bill. Cleanish toasty malt. Overall pretty clean and drinkable. Medium to full bodied, quite sessionable. OK, but sort of redundant and tame.

On tap at Lagunitas during SF Beer Week, what a week! It pours crystal clear copper with near white head. The aroma has some malt sweetened citrus notes and then crisp spicy hops and then some grapefruit into the end of the draw. The taste has a mix of citrus hops and spicy hops and then delivers crisp yumminess. It goes from flavor hops and picks up only modest hop bitterness to midway. It ends pretty smooth and somewhat sweet. Yummers.

On tap at the brewery. Good, but compared to the fresh Hop Stoopid and Sucks on tap? Sad comparison, amongst amazing competition. Pours with a clear, but very deep golden hued body with a white head. Good lace. Aromas are of brown sugar, tamarind, floral, citrus, rose water, cantaloupe and herbal hops. Flavors are very malty. Too malty for my tastes. Brown sugar, caramel, floral, grainy with a mild citrus hop character. Lowish carb. Not a bad beer per say, but not great either. But next to Sucks and fresh Hop Stoopid, this beer, well, sucks! I am all for experimentation, but if a lower rate of experimentation allows for "Holiday Leftovers" aka Sucks year round...I’d be fine with that.

On tap at Rose and Crown. Amazing grapefruit and slight pine jump out of the glass. Clear orange with white head that leaves too quickly. Medium-full mouthfeel of orange, citrus and pine leads to a dry bitter finish.

Served on draft at Beer Run. Pours a clear vibrant copper color with a thin frothy offwhite head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of floral, citrus and vegetal hop notes with caramel malts. The taste is big citrus and herbal hops with big caramel malts. Medium bodied. Well balanced. Quite nice.

Draft. Rich amber beer with a cream colored head. Grapefruti and light summer fruit aroma with light earthiness. Grapefruit and summer fruit with tropical fruit. Medium bodied. Decent bitterness. Grapefruit and summer fruit lingers with tropical fruit and light caramel.

Draft at Bavarian Lodge. Brown but clear, the kind of drink you’d like to watch a fireplace through. A quarter-finger ecru foam layer with no bubbles feeding it. Biggest damn catbox smell of any hoppy beer I can remember. Like putting hops in a vaporizer to try and cure a sniffle. Hmm… I may have something here. Not surprising then that the taste is a big mouthful of hops, too. This beer finally tests the limits of my hop endurance. A red ale can be pretty neutral in the first place; used here as a base, it’s just not given a chance by the hops. If you’re a true hophead, you’d likely rate this even higher. But as Flo and/or Eddie said, I know when I’ve been licked… all over.

4/10/2011 on tap @ Rattle 'n Hum, NYC (2011-513)

Clear dark orange beer, aery small yellowish head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: sweet passion fruits, pineapple, bit of resin. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: fruity but also herbal, bit of the classic passion fruits with grapefruit and bitter oranges, citrus touches. Aftertaste: bitter hops with sour touches and a peache fruitiness to it. Good balanced brew.
