Bottle courtesy, of course, of ygtbsm94, thanks again! Very dark brown, no head worth mentioning. Aroma of celery salt and cocoa powder. Taste of milk chocolate and burned coffee not bad.

2006 bottle thanks to Dr.Bill. Pours with a black body with small particles, minimal off-white head. Aromas of soy, molasses, brown sugar, port, dark fruit and maltballs. Flavors are big, rich cocoa, dark fruits, light ash and smoke. Soy sauce and some noticeable oxidation. Low bubbles, thick.

750 ml bottle graciosuly shared by beastiefan2k. Pour is dark brown, black with a thinnish tan head. Oily texture leaves behind pronounced legs on the glass. Looks like an espresso pour. Aroma of oily roast, mild soy and some straw. Interesting, though a bit muted. Taste is the sharp roast, followed close behind by the soy and the silky grain. The class of this beer is the balance and integration of the flavors. Palate is medium to heavy bodied, more or less flat, oily and silky mouthfeel. Very smooth. A bit of soy in the long finish. Nice one, thanks Eugene.

Huge thanks to CigarCityBrew for opening this rare elixir. Pours deep dark darkness with brown head. The aroma has some dark roasty malts, dark grapes, ripe plums and blueberries. It also gets a bit toasty and almost biscuit like. Inviting aroma. The taste starts sweet with smooth and nearly velvety mouthfeel. I get roasty and rich maltiness, burnt malts, dark chocolate and tasty sweet dark fruity esters of dark grape jam, sweet raisins and blueberries. The age has done this beer well with a smooth blended flavor sensation.

Got to try this puppy thanks to Eyedrinkale last night at Spuyten Duyvil. Poured completely black with a small brown lacing. Aroma is strong and great - all sweetness. Its like a plum/raison alcohol mixed with chocolate. Leaves a coffee and roasty aftertaste. My one complaint, I would like a bit thicker body, otherwise for me so far the best Impy Stout if you are looking for sweetness (sweeter than Meph, IMO).
Has this again thanks to ryan, sticking with my rating but for many different reasons. There is roast, oatmeal, buckwheat and lots of other characteristics that rock. Awesome beer.

A pitch black beer with a thin dark brown head. The aroma quite strong coffee notes, but also a slight acidity - as if the coffee is too strong. The flavor is dominated by a weird coffee note, and quite a lot of vanilla to go with a light roastyness. The end is dry wood with a light touch of vanilla.

(Bottle 75 cl) Completely black and opaque with a creamy, light brown head. Very roasted, coffeeish aroma. Extremely full body with almost vinous accents of dried fruits. Lots of burned malt adding a very strong impression of coffee. Dry, lightly hoppy finish mainly originating in the malts. Tasted at the Oklahoma Beer tasting March 06 hosted by mjames and lilannie. 240306

Rich roast and black ash, a touch acrid with some notes of body odor. Sweetish with a nice husky astringency. Raisiny fig notes start to show. Medium bitter finish, with lingering ashy notes. Astringency hints at tartness. Very smooth with an oily palate. Black showing dark brown at the edges.

Thanks to cquiroga for this one - pours an oily black with slight tan lacing of large bubbles - aroma of port/red wine, oak, toffee, a little background alcohol and chocolate - slick mouthfeel - roasty/smokey up front, with come coffee bitterness - vanilla and toffee in the middle - slight vinous character, with some dark fruit near the almost dry, woody finish - a pretty darn good imperial stout.
