Life & Limb is a collaborative effort, the brainchild of Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. and Dogfish Head Craft Brewery. Life & Limb is a 10% ABV strong, dark beer that defies style characteristics- brewed with pure maple syrup from the Calagione family farm in Massachusetts and estate barley grown on the Grossman "farm" at the brewery in Chico, CA. The beer is alive with yeast-a blend of both breweries' house strains-bottle conditioned for added complexity and shelf life, and naturally carbonated with birch syrup fresh from Alaska.

Life & Limb is dedicated to the family of beer drinkers and enthusiasts worldwide who continue to support the little guys, iconoclasts, entrepreneurs, and pioneers who risk life and limb to shape the vibrant craft-brewing community.

2019 vintage. Good, kind of like cross between a brown ale and a barleywine, with with toasted pumpernickel, cocoa, caramel, and toffee underlined by cherry and orange, followed up by maple sweetness and a savory birch fade. Gets a bit sugary as it warms--the maple begins to crowd out any nuance--but a memorable brew, good for sharing.

Deep red-brown body, medium clumping brown head. Tangy nose, grape, syrup, and wood. Initially rather delicate and soft, sugary with grape and syrup notes, toast, and a vinous bite, with a woody tannic aftertaste developing post-sip. The booziness is sharper with warmth but there isn't a concomitant heaviness. I'm enjoying my second taste of this more than my first...it's not a great beer, but it's pretty good in relatively small doses.

0,473 l can at Valhalla Craft beer bar, Zagreb. Shared with Pliš and Šarki. Dark, small lasting head. Aroma is syrupy, caramely, sugary, dried figs, alcohol, glue. Spicy alcoholic! Flavour is malty, nutty and toasty with a strong alcohol presence. Dried fruit again in the finish. Strong, boozy, some herbs, not too sweet. Dangerous.

0.473 l can from 'Rudat', canned in May 2019. Clear, dark ruby with a thin, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity-resiny and a little herbal aroma of caramel, pine, some marmelade and traces of herbs. Gently sweet, malty, slightly fruity-resiny and a bit herbal taste of caramel, pine, marmelade and herbs, followed by a medium long, gently bitter, slightly resiny and quite herbal finish. Medium to full body, smooth and gently creamy mouthfeel, average carbonation. Really pleasant beer, extremely well-balanced and saturating, not just messing around with weird ingredients but giving it a unique touch.

Bottle from Ericandersnavy, thanks! Deep dark brown color. Maple syrup and licorice in the aroma. Full bodied. Sweet, bready and alcoholic. Licorice, laurel and maple syrup in the flavor. Licorice in the aftertaste. Sticky mouthfeel. Big beer, flavorful but lacking balance.
