A blend of whiskey barrel, wine foeder, and stainless aged sour beers, Love Child No. 4 opens with an aroma of red fruit and underripe strawberries. Slightly more acidic than previous Love Child releases, this blend marries dark fruit flavors with subtle earthy notes of leather and mushroom with a lingering, acid finish that closes crisp and dry.

Riktigt gott.

Wow, snagged this from a bottle shop it’s been a while that I’ve been to, they had lots of Love Child No. 6 and this one of No. 4 mixed in. Probably passed up as a shelf turd, but says best by 3/2016. Glad I grabbed it. Fruity, winey smell, loads of strawberry/cherry in the flavor, but primarily very tart and not terribly funky, just enough to let you know brett’s been here. Not as thin as some sours stray toward. Very impressive beer.

750 ml corked and caged bottle. Aroma is vinegar, lemon, seedy dark berries. Pours hazy dark amber with a medium beige head with good retention. Taste is mouth-puckering sour (10/10 on a sour sale), lots of acidity, with lemon and seedy berry flavors along with a medium oak presence. Carbonation is restrained and average (not too foamy). Delicious!

750 ml bottle. Clear Amber color with no head. Aroma is apple cider vinegar and traces of sour plums.

The flavor shows tart lemons, again vinegar and a big lacto notes in the back end. Secondary flavors of cherry and mild oak. I’m glad I didn’t buy this bottle because honestly it everything about a sour ale that I dislike. Rather tart with strong notes of vinegar. Really just not my thing.
