2012 vintage. A deep dark imperial stout with a thin lacing dark brown head. In aroma, sweet chocolate malt with light coffee notes, OK. In mouth, a sweet chocolate malt with light coffee notes, grassy hops, licorice, basil, thyme, rather strange but nice. On tap at Aces and Ales Nellis.

Sampled at Boise’s Imperial Stout get together, over 120 bottles to choose from. Going with the flow on this rating. This was one of my contributions to the event.

pitch black color. Very strange nose with odd hops. An ashtray with some dark chocolates, but not well balanced or interesting

Bottle - Rich bitter chocolate, a bit of coffee and roast malts. Jet black with a rich brown head. Bittersweet chocolate, some dark fruit and booze. Very rich on the tongue. The finish has a bitterness that seems a bit excessive, but balances the sweetness.
