Bottle shared by Sean, thanks! Poured black with a tan head that dissipated quickly to the edges. Aroma had note of pumpkin and dark grains with an odd stale coffee note as well. Flavor was full of dark grains, a slight pumpkin note and was quite musty.

Pretty good looking stout. Black liquid with a creamy beige head. Smells of spices and roasted barley. Somehow, the combination of scents present reminds me of Pepsi, perhaps more like a fancy Pepsi Natural. It has a nuttiness and sweet roasted flavor that are reminiscent of kola nut. The flavor could be a bit more upfront with the pumpkin pie. Itโ€™s certainly there, but the stout flavors tend to dominate after the initial tasting. There are nice notes of caramel malt and roasted barley. The hops arenโ€™t terribly strong. The pumpkin flavors mostly come from cinnamon and nutmeg notes. Creamy but has a somewhat thin finish. Perhaps, it could use more carbonation. Very easy to drink for a Pumpkin Ale. The flavors are neither artificial nor cloying. The spices are present but donโ€™t dominate. The stout is solid even if it doesnโ€™t knock my socks off.

12 ounce bottle from Kybecca in Fredericksburg, VA. Pours a dark brown color appearing black in the glass. Medium brown head with good head retention and lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, pumpkin, caramel and spices such as cinnamon. Taste is bitter roasted malts, faint pumpkin notes, a very faint spiciness and a spicy hop finish. Medium bodied.

Draught at Ginger Man, NYC
Black color; creamy head. Light roasted malt aroma. Smooth mouthfeel, good body, with dark caramel and chocolate flavor; there is maybe a shade of pumpkin, light luckily. Pleasant.

Draft. Ginger Man, NYC. Finally a pumpkin beer that gets the flavors of pumpkin pie and beer to work together. Maybe the secret is using a stout as the base. Deep brown to black body with a short but fluffy tan head. Nice aroma of pumpkin and spices - nutmeg, cinamon, allspice - alongside roasted malt, wood, smoke and peat. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, creamy texture that turns a little watery and lively carbonation. The stout adds a nice earthiness to the sweet pumpkin and spice. Nice.

Dark brown color, small off-white head. Strong aroma of pumpkin. Medium-bodied. Caramel, coffee, pumpkin (less than in aroma). Quite caramelly, not really stout-like.

Bottled (brewed under license by Olde Saratoga Brewing, NY) at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Near black, mid-sized beige head. Buttey cinnamon aroma. Mid-sweet with well rounded mouthfeel. Light roastiness lies under the punpkin spices. Some butter yfat soothes it, making it feel like drinking soup base. Mild soy sauce finish with relaxed bitterness. Quite pleasant, although not overly complex.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 26 Sep 2009) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark fruit, cinnamon and dark bread. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark bread, chocolate and spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin?). Medium body, with some sweetness. Iโ€™m usually not overly fond of pumpkins, but this beer was actually quite nice.

Bottle: Poured a clear black color stout with a standard foamy head with average retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of light pumpkin with some very weak roasted malt notes. Taste is blander then expected with light notes of pumpkin and some even lighter roasted malt notes and some light lingering sweet notes at the end. Body is too light for style with OK carbonation. A fuller body and more pumpkin presence would have improved this beer in my humble opinion.
