12oz bottle from Wegman’s, King of Prussia, PA. Better than the other Oktoberfest beers (or should that be biers) I’ve tried so far on this trip.
This one’s a pale copper with a fast fading translucent head; the aroma is clean and malty; the taste is well-balanced between the sweetness of the malt, and an almost citrus acidity from the hops; leaving a crisp, almost appley finish.

Amber colored. Earthy, light caramel malts, and light spice. Has a faint hoppy finish. Not bad but easily forgettable. But, I drank copious amounts of this at an Oktoberfest celebration, so I can vouch for it’s drinkability.

Sampled on draft at 3 Rivers 6 Pack this beer poured a very dark orange-caramel color with a minimal white head that faded quickly. The aroma was tangy, malty and lightly fruity. The flavor was tangy and bittersweet and smoothly malty with notes of caramel and fruit underlying. The finish was medium length smooth malt and light fruit. Medium body. Solid.

on tap at the brewpub, pours amber with a medium off white head. Aroma is toasted malt and light spicing. Flavor is the same. Nice sweet malt to spice balance. Works well.

Served on draft at the Lancaster location. Pours a clear copper color with a medium head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, toffee and berry notes. The taste is caramel, toffee, faint nutty notes and leafy, butter hops. A fruity finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Gilly’s 9/10/09
Aroma: Mostly malty aroma, caramel, some toasty grains, and just a bit of funky fruit
Appearance: A clear amber color, minimal head
Flavor: Malty sweet up-front, more bittersweet and funky in the later palate, and a little spice in the finish
Palate: Medium bodied beer, crisp mouthfeel, long duration
Overall Impression: This was actually a pretty decent Oktoberfest, and I found that as it warmed just a touch the nose improved. At first it was lacking in complexity, but opened up a bit as it went from the fridge coolness to just cool. A nice beer.

Imperial pint draft at the brewpub. Who knows why an Oktoberfest is on in early May, must be made year round. Filtered brown-amber color. Fluffy head. Clean, fresh aroma. Smooth, with some Amber malt tones. Middle of the road taste-wise. Freshness helps, but it lacks the subtleties of a German Marzen. Deliciously average.

Light golden coloured body with a large white head (more to come later). Aroma of skunky malt, stale hops and very little else. Light-bodied; Sharp taste of foul and stale cardboardie malt with some light spices and a bit of cheese thrown in. Aftertaste shows more of the same - bad stuff. Overall, a pretty bad beer...that isn’t even considering how I drank it: the carbonation in this one exploded the top, forcing bubbles and everything else out of the cap - not a good way to drink it and not a good beer at all! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased at Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 18-November-2007.

Nice label. Clear orange colored iced tea. Aroma hints of a stronger alky brew. Spicy strong flavor impact. More personality without bitter offense, compared to other fests. Almost has the personality of some pumpkin beers I’ve had. Creamy carbonation makes its presence known. Mouth filling flavors in every swig. Finish is impact of spice and industrial malt alky thickness. Instead of a sharp back of throat focused bitterness, this seems to coat the whole mouth with a slightly less bitter level.
