Sample at the Ale Wine & Spirits beer tasting on 10/16/2013: Hazy ruby red color with a medium white head that diminishes gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, yeast and dark fruit. Medium-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, berries, candi sugar and yeast. The finish is fruity up front with an earthy yeast aftertaste. Decent overall.

Pours hazy light mahogany into a Trappist glass. Tan head with excellent retention recedes to skim surface. Sweet pit fruit and fruity yeast aromas. Medium bodied with dark caramel and chocolate covered pit fruit front to back. Warm, lasting hot plum finish.
