An homage to the devilish Belgian Golden Ales that continue to inspire our brewers, this Belgian Devil has aromas of peach, pear, and apple along with slight hints of banana and spice from the Belgian yeast strain. Those aromas carry through in flavor, with pear, apple, and yeast phenols dominating. It has a light, subtly sweet malt backbone and subtle bitterness for balance.

(Draught at Bishop’s Arms Gamla Stan, Stockholm, 10 Jan 2014) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, malty nose with tropical fruit, candy sugar and honey. Fruity, malty taste with notes of canned fruit, honey, candy sugar and a balanced grassy bitterness in a finish with some alcohol shining through. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. A bit one-dimensional, but quite tasty. Nice one.

Draft from BrewDog Shepherd’s Bush opening night on 29 November 2013. Poured a clear golden colour with a scummy white head. Aroma of peaches, burnt sugar and biscuity malt. Cooked fruit in the initial flavour with notes of toasted malt and golden syrup. Finish was honey, chewy malt and spruce hops. Not all that Belgian-like, but very nice, nonetheless.

Location: 750 ml bottle from Buy Rite, 12/8/13
Aroma: Aroma is yeasty with a little spice and some fruit/apple
Appearance: It pours a cloudy golden-orange color with a sheeting white head
Flavor: Taste-wise, this one is on the sweet side, a little yeasty spice, and some light bread
Palate: The body is fairly light for the style, with a plus carbonation, and an unexciting finish
Overall Impression: This one isn't a favorite for me. The flavors just aren't that well developed, and nothing properly balances the sweetness. It's decent, and it has some good components, but it isn't a winner.

Keg at Brewdog Shepard’s Bush opening night. Aroma is belgian pale malt and herbal Hoo with a touch of honey. Golden colour pour with a touch of haze and thin persistent white head. Flavour is clean sweet honey malt and herbal. Belgian yeast is subdued. Slightly worty and under attenuated for a belgian. Fine medium carbonation.

Euston Tap. Keg. Hazy gold beer with a small white head. Palate starts smooth but turns minerally crisp. Sweet creamy malt and sweet floralness. Well integrated candy sweets, mildly sherbet. Touch of parma violets and a whisper of spice. Finishes smooth. A pretty sweet but tasty Belgian.
