16 oz can purchased as a single at Beer Crazy in Urbandale, Iowa. The pour is a mostly clear golden orange with a 1 inch head that falls fast. The aroma is chemical grain malt along with some sort of weird floral. The taste is a not real fresh cracker malt along with the weird floral dry pepper spice of the nose. The palate is medium to light bodied with harsh carbonation and a dirty finish.

Pour is a clear red with a average white head. Aroma is not much else than some sweet malt. Flavor is a little better but not great. Decent malt but no hops or earthiness like you usually get in this style. Finish is bland and watery. Nothing special here.

Can brought back from a trip to the Quad Cities. Poured a clear, light brown/dark red color with a small, white head. Aroma was light malt notes, nutty with a touch of spice in there. Flavor was sweet, toasted malts, with notes of sweetness. Pretty drinkable.

Can thanks to Jcwattsrugger. Pours reddish amber. Off white head. Nose and taste of sweet candy, candi sugar, sticky caramel and lightly baked cherry bread. Body on lighter side of medium. Slight spice in finish.

Roller Dam Red Ale-on tap-offwhite-amber. A-med malt-sweet/musty, earthy. Taste follows.

16 ounce can courtesy of pepsican. Thanks! Pours a clear amber color with a large creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of toffee, toasted malts and herbal notes. The taste is herbal and fruity hops with toffee malts. A little off balance and muted. Medium bodied.

16oz can poured into a shaker. Not much for aroma thanks to the frosted glass. I pretty much only get spicy malt. Taste is light bitter. Spicy malt, sour green apples and a little chocolate. Medium bodied with a slick texture. Lively carbonation and a decently long finish. Overall, not bad but i wouldnt seek it oit.

Draft sampler at Great River. 9/30/11. Color is more toward the amber brown than the 483. A maltier smell, yet it also smells "dry." Hops are low to let the malts come out, and maybe I should have sampled this one first, as I still a little hop hangover from the pale ale. But after a few more sips, I can finally get into the earthy English hop finish. A much different beast than the dry-hopped firkin I had below. --- Draft pour at Midwest Brewers Fest, Aug. 2011. Rating 8-2-7-3-14, total 3.4. This was a special edition dry hopped with Simcoe and served still from a firkin. Light brown with a lot of stuff floating in the glass. They were tipping the firkin to get beer from the bung in the middle, so I’ve got some debris here. Very big, catboxy smell: frusty, grapefruity and piny. The way us hopheads like. Taste is big hop juice. Grassy or dried hops, very little malt to back it up. Not too much alcohol. No carbonation. The low rating for appearance is simply because of the dregs in the glass.
