A brewhouse favourite, this beer was brewed for the first time in our tiny pilot premises in Stoke Newington, hence the name. Brown ale is making a welcome comeback and this is our take on the style. A juicy but light malt backbone gives plenty of support to the generous hops. We love drinking this one.

Bottle, thanks FatPhil for sharing this. Light brown pour, some light beige foam on top. Nose has toffee and light roasted malts. Burnt bread. Taste has bitterness, probably mainly from roast but something from hops as well. Toffee and nutty, burnt, burnt bread. Well drinkable hoppy brown ale this is. Nice dry roasted lingering finish.

Keg at Waterloo Tap. Herbal aroma. Opaque cola brown..Creamy if thin white head. Light bitter with hints of sweetness. Aromatic and citrus. Some coffee and cardboard. Medium bodied. On the light side. Average carbonation. Leaves an aftertaste. Hmm... it,s alright but not sure how keen I am on the flavour mix. Kinda like licking a pleasent enough wet wipe?!
