A brewhouse favourite, this beer was brewed for the first time in our tiny pilot premises in Stoke Newington, hence the name. Brown ale is making a welcome comeback and this is our take on the style. A juicy but light malt backbone gives plenty of support to the generous hops. We love drinking this one.

Bottle from Oddbins London Bridge. Deep brown with a mild hoppy black roasty nose. Medium bodied with a zesty mouthfeel. The taste is slightly acrid black patent malts and roastedness. Alright but I was expecting more. 3.3

Bottle sample at a tasting at troubles’s place. Thanks troubles. Cloudy dark amber to brown with a beige head. Aroma of yeast, sourish fruity infection, a bit of vegetables, nutty notes, and hoppy hints. Sourish flavor, yeasty, fruity, with sweetish malt, and an unpleasant bitterish finish. Medium-bodied. Spoiled.

At a tasting, thanks, small stable off white creamy bubbly head, very cloudy light brown color, aroma of toasted dark bread with caramel and oxidised notes and some hay, flavor of caramel and hay with a strong soapy bitterness, taste is quite fowl, probably infected.

Clear brown beer with a thin white head. Malty, caramel aroma. Flavour is quite mellow in the mouth with soft caramel malt flavour and maybe a touch of fruit but there’s a nice sharp bitter hop in the aftertaste
