Draft from brewery. Dark cloudy pour. Wheat yeast aroma mixed with malts and other stouty smells. Light banana taste followed by chocilate and malts. Interesting

Bottle from The Drinkery, Derry NH. Aroma is bready malts with chocolate undertones. Appearance is opaque black with minimal sparkle. I wouldn’t even call it a brown head as it was basically brown bubbles that were gone in an instant after the pour. After that, it looks like really flat cola--no lacing. Taste is medium balance of sweet and bitter with slightly more bitterness. Palate is surprisingly thin, between light and medium bodied. Carbonation is almost absent and finish is pretty abrupt and slightly bitter. Overall, you could certainly do a lot worse as far as the beer universe goes. But, this is a pretty tough category to produce a pretty ho hum beer. If the palate and appearance were better, this would be a contendah...

Bottle. Pours opaque back, very large brown head, dissipates slowly, good lacing. Aroma is wheat, lots of anise, molasses, black licorice. Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter, some sharp acidity. Medium body, high carbonation. Tough to categorize...

Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a mug and a weizen. At the time, I was a bit confused as to what style this beer really was.
What was poured into the weizen glass yielded a far larger white foamy head that the mug. Everything else is the same.
The rest of the appearance was a dark brown close to black color. The lacing is the same in both glasses, foamy and thick.
The smell was the same in both glasses, though the banana esters may have lasted longer in the weizen. There’s a dark roasty chocolate in a stale breadiness.
The taste followed the nose.
On the palate, this one sat right at a medium in body. Sessionable? To me, not exactly as I don’t think the flavors really meshed that well.
Overall, out of all the times I’ve had this when I was living in Maine, I could never get into this beer.

22oz bottle pours a watery, translucent black with some fast fading white head. Nose is interesting, wheat chaff, toast, bread, coffee, licorice, molasses. Flavor is chalky, bready, chocolate, cola, brown sugar. Chalky finish.

Bottle. Poured a dark brown color with some ruby edges on it. Not a touch of head. Aroma is some sweet roasty notes, wheat, milk chocolate. Flavor is some creamy malt notes, okay! I also get some poseidon.
