Redhook’s twist on the Belgian style is the addition of fresh ginger, which adds a refreshing snappiness to this lighter-bodied wheat beer. Redhook Wit is perfect for warm summer months of outdoor BBQ-ing, sitting by the pool, or just taking a break by hanging inside enjoying the AC and watching old re-runs of Gilligan’s Island.

Pour is a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma is some orange peel but that is very minor. Flavor again is very minor coriander with a little fruityness. This was not a good wit. Very bland and dull.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a weizen. Pours cloudy light orange with very small white head. Little lacing, medium body, medium/light carbonation, and wheat aroma. Taste is grainy wheat, some tart citrus, and crisp hop finish. Below average for the style.

Bottle. Citrusy wheat malt aroma. Cloudy golden yellow with a thin skiff of bubbles on top. Sweet orange and wheat malt flavor with a very slight hint of ginger in the finish. Light carbonated body.

Bottle. Wheat malt and ginger aroma. Cloudy golden yellow with minimal head. Light wheat malt and ginger flavor. Light body. Very unique - ginger instead of the usual coriander. Still very nice - a great summer beer.

Bottle. Terrible aroma, sweat and wet canvas, aroma took me back to my army days, and sentry duty in the bush. Cloudy body with o head, looks like a fruit juice. Flavour is ginger and water, wit a little hop in the finish. A terrible disappointment from red hook.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange yellow with a small frothy white head. The aroma is wheat grass and grain. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet fruity malt with citrus and honey. A decent wit from Redhook.

No effort put out here. A nearly clear, yellow beer with low carbonation, no perceivable effort at getting the cloudy, wit beer effect. Very light wheat and coriander in the aroma, a flavor of a witbier-lite. Very disappointing. Thinnish palate.

Bottle from Total Wine in Roseville, CA. Pours hazy gold with a big creamy/fizzy white head. Aroma seems citrus with a little clove. With a touch of Belgian yeast. Near medium body. It comes on confused, then settles into ginger, then wears out into a little light malt. Not the best wit ever, but clearly drinkable.

Hazy orange coloured body with a nice frothy slightly off-white head. Aroma of curacao, coriander seed, light nutmeg and allspice and a touch of yeast. Light to Medium-bodied; Assertive yeast and wheat flavours with a nice bit of spiciness and a fruity finish. Aftertaste shows a touch of yeast with more wheat and spices than I’d expect, but not enough complexity and strong tastes that makes it stand out amongst others of this style. I sampled this stubby twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 20-July-2011 sampled in a hotel room in Syracuse, New York on 11-August-2011.
