The second Radler made by Alken-Maes, now with grapefruit - or actually, a blend of 40% Maes Pils with a kind of soda with not just grapefruit, but lime, acerola and lemon as well. Thin, white, quickly dissolving head over a cloudy and milky straw blonde beer with peachy hue, looking not unlike an average witbier. The aroma is almost undistinguishable from Fanta Lemon or something in that league: lots of refined cane sugar, artificial lemon juice from a bottle, grapefruit and orange extracts, ascorbic acid - and no matter how much I try, I fail to find any trace of malts or hops in it. Taste is the same: artificial citrus all the way through (lemon, orange and indeed a faint bitterishness of grapefruit, but all in a very lemonade-like way), very sweet and sugary though fortunately not overly cloying, ascorbic acidity, spritzy carbonation, somewhat powdery mouthfeel, thin body, with a very, and I mean VERY faint hint of malts hidden far away in the finish. The beer clearly does not stand a chance against the lemonade-like force, the flavours which determine beer are only here on a microscopic level, taking a lot of concentration to be found - the actual German Radlers, though not my taste either, are more beery than this. As a lemonade this is quite pleasant and thirst-quenching, though. And now for an actual beer please...

Can from a gasstation in Belgium. Frothy White fair mostly deminishing head. Ugly pale yellow colour. Moderate grape aroma. Light bitter moderate grape flavor. Not that artificial. no beer present. Not sweet. Short finish. watery palate.

33 cl. bottle @ home. Pours grapefruit, hazy pilsner straw golden with totally soda / chemical collapsing head, sparkling. Smells like grapefruit soda & artificial sweetener, nothing wrong with the smell. Strange soda band aid taste, grapefruit, sticky plaster artificial sweeteners, it has this flour-like consistency and feel to it, chemical aftertaste, sparkling, light, touch watery soda. If not for the floor this might have okay. Would be cool to have something like this with a bit of pulp / zest feel to it. The chemical / floor feel makes this a bit hard to drink for me but it does drink alright. You might get better results buying pulpy grapefruit juice & mixing it with some pils & throwing some slices & ice cubes in there.

Can at home . Having my doubts about wether or not this is a ratable thing . It clearly states it is a mix drink ( as like many other radler’s ) as far as I knew, mixing something with beer , would make the result a beer-product , not a beer . Kinda the same system as why snake venom etc is Unrateable ... Anyway . Drank from the can . Smell is sugary , fruity-idea . Metalic malts . Taste is - just like the regular - indeed refreshing, and doable . Yet - also a lot like the regular with lemon - very fake, and sugary . This would make a medium to lesser soda . The lemon one was an average to better soda . Even though I do am convinced this is drinkable ( more than other beers I give this rating ) it is nothing you’re easely gonna drink a whole can of . So fake, so sugary . The fact its got 2 % ABV more than a soda ( that is possibly even better ) does not help . I don’t get why people would want alcohol ( no matter how little ) in their body if it does not have a taste to live up to it .

Little cloudy pale yellow to milky white beer, irregular white head, little stable, non adhesive, some small chunks floating around in the beer. Aroma: very lemony, lime, grapefruit, citrus, sweet lemonade. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: very sweet, sugary, lemonade, lemon candy, sweet, hint of grapefruit. Aftertaste: same, but a bit more grapefruit than first. Hurray... first! Oh boy... happy, happy, joy, joy. :p
