Small offwhite creamy head. Darkish reddish brown body with some carbonation. Lightly acidic caramelly aroma with slight wooden notes. Bitterish nutty caramel taste with light oaken watery aftertaste, kind of dry. Easily drinkable, but a bit boring. (0.5l can. Thanks to KnutAlbert.)

After a hundred good beers, I have to admit that it is easy to develop a stereo type about a beer without even tasting it. For example; this is smithwicks imported Irish ale. The last Irish ale I had was carlow o’hares irish red. I was not too impressed with that style. This says from the makers of Guinness on a 12 oz brown bottle. Is that a benefit? After I pop the lid I get a whiff of a hint of mealy sweetness and perhaps even some pretty flowery soap way back there. Pours a darker brownish orange yellow (130K) that appears clear. Nice creamy head, alabaster, and it is remaining on the top of the beer without fading. I begin the tasting sequence without much offensiveness, better than o’hares. A unique blend of flavors and aromas leads to a pleasant experience. Behaves itself nicely, but I mustn’t forget I am very thirsty. The finish provides a hint of maltyness, the bitter linger is mild and short. Enjoyable, however, there is better tasting beer for less money. I have a;so had this on tap at the Trivia pub in Moon.

Poured two bottles, one with a beautiful creamy head and the other one without any head at all (I think that is just the different angles that I poured the two bottles though). Nice smell, with a little hint of alcohol in it. Has a dark amber-red color to it... whichever way you want it. It seems like there is a little bit too much carbonation for my tastes. Nothing really special about this beer in terms of taste. I don’t really think that I would get it on my own volition again.

Draught. Dark brown color, brown tan head. Crisp menthol-hoppy aroma with touch of brown sugar. Light to medium-bodied. Smooth mouthfeel, also very carbonated. Not very strong palate: some malts, light hoppy bitterness in the finish. Cross-over of Newcastle Brown Ale and Kilkenny.

A nut brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has light notes of nuts combined with hints of yeast. The flavor is rather sweet with a note of burnt caramel and toffee. An OK beer without being anything special.

On Tap at Uisce’s in Bellingham, Wa. Slightly hazy light brown with a thin off white head. Soft sweet fairly dark malty aroma. Flavor was a plain, woody, somewhat sweet malt flavor, somewhat cardboardy. Very littel bitterness and a rather thin feel. A session ale this is and as such, drinkable but not very interesting.
