5-6% abv. Malted barley. Dry and light-bodied to better showcase the individuality of the hops in both aroma and flavour. A basic recipe is followed, with each batch utilising different hop varieties from around the world based on seasonality, availability, and the whims of the brewer.

Tap @ Beer Temple, small sample. Almost clear golden color, short head. Aroma of pine, green hops, grassy, slight biscuity malt. Medium bitter in taste. A bit too green on the hops I think, but furthermore exactly what you expect.

On tap at Beer Temple. Hazy golden yellow colour, white head. Aroma of eggs, sulphur, dank hops, grass, some pine, light floral malt notes. Not very inviting. Flavour is something else, very fresh, juicy, floral malts, citrus, freshly cut grass, some pine, light earthy but firm bitter finish. Light-bodied. Tasty.

Bottle shared by Erwin Van Moll @ Brewpub Van Moll. Clear light orange color, small off-white head. Weird and not pleasant aroma of vegetables and plants. Taste lightly malts, again some vegetables and plant like. What the hell happend here? Not like The Kernel at all.. Has to be an incident.

Bottle from StarmoreBoss, Sheffield. Hazy gold. Thin, sticky, lasting, white head. Huge, fresh, Simcoe hop leaf aroma. Very peachy, juicy and sweet, pine resin character. Taste is minty sweet, first off. Then pretty dry and bitter. Fresh, lightly oily palate. Dryness and bitterness last on the finish. Very quaffable.

Keg at The Hanging Bat (2014) and bottle from House Of Trembling Madness (2023). Hazy golden body with a lasting white head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of tangerine, pine resin and minerals. Flavour of juicy orange and peach. Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Soft fizz. An amazingly quaffable beer.

330ml bottle from Ales by Mail
Bottled 16.09.13 - Pours clear orange with a smooth white head. Aroma of exotic fruits, hay, biscuity malts and caramel. Taste is smooth, exotic fruity and grassy with notes of hay, citrus, biscuity malts and caramel. Finish is sweetish, fruity and slightly musty with some citrus and biscuity notes. Quite tasty and a nice showcase for the Simcoe hop.

Bottle at home, from Ales By Mail, 05/11/13. Pours lightly (by Kernel standards) hazed orange amber with a thiniish off white covering. Nose is earthy hops, mandarin, peach, toasted malts. Taste comprises mandarin, light pine, grassy, orange pith, mineral bite. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry grassy bitterness in the finale. Solid APA but not Kernels finest, great drinkable affair none the less.
