Il nome di questa Alt Bier onora uno dei carnevali più trasgressivi d’Europa: il Carnevale delle Zitelle, quando Düsseldorf si ferma per tre giorni. Oltrepassando il Reno, abbiamo continuato a ricercare nel mondo delle alte fermentazioni tedesche. La Zitella ha un colore ambrato brillante e all’olfatto si sente tutta la dolcezza dei malti, caratterizzata da sfumature tostate e lievi sentori floreali che emergono dal lievito utilizzato e i processi di fermentazione. In bocca è un Alt Bier leggera, corpo medio e molto equilibrata. Anche lei chiude con un soffice amaro donato dai luppoli nobili tedeschi.

Craft Clerkenwell. Keg. Crystal clear red - amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light, smooth and semi dry. Decent fine carbonation. The malts have a very light roast character and a touch of unsweet dark chocolate. Light malt cream and caramel. Trace of wood. Well buried esters. Hops start with mildly spicy pine and move through a nice juicy orange, fresh peel and marmalade. A nice touchnof cherry before a light finish. Nicely done. A reasonably well hopped alt with lots going on. Might furrow brows in Dusseldorf but my brow is unlined.

Draft at Hoppy Days. Pours clear golden amber with an off white head. Aroma of caramel, light malt, light veggy hoppy uncertainty. Flavour is Light sweet and moderate bitter. Light bodied with light carbonation.

On tap at Hoppy Days. Clear light-amber colour, thin off-white head. Aroma of caramel, some leafy hops, nuts. Flavour is sweet, but not very malty, nutty, caramel, toast, dry hoppy bitter finish. Light-bodied, watery. Not great.
