4oz pour at Churchkey DC pours a clear gold with a ring of white head. Nose has lots of yeasty esters, a bit of booze, banana, clove, malt. Flavor is slick, grassy, mildly buttery. Finishes kind of slick.

Hazy golden coloured body with a rich, three centimetre tall pure white head. Aroma of bananas, cloves, yeast, wheat and bunches of coriander seed - very fresh smelling. Medium-bodied; Assertive wheat and yeast flavours with a pungent banana kick, some light sweetness from honey and a very floral and spicey kick at the end. Aftertaste shows a very pungent kick with some sour lemons, a bit of yeast, dry wheat and a rich sweetness from honey. Overall, a nice german hef that rivals some of the best ones from the country, but made here in the good ole US of A. Definitely worth trying if you like the style and/or if you want a refreshing summer beer. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Falls Church (Tyson’s Corner), Virginia on 10-July-2014 for US$5,49 sampled at home in Washington on 12-August-2014.

22 ounce bottle into weizen glass, best before 10/2/2014. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy bright gold color with a 2 finger dense and rocky white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lemon zest, banana, orange peel, pear, apple, pepper, clove, wheat, bread, light honey, light bubblegum, straw, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and hop notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon zest, banana, orange peel, pear, apple, pepper, clove, wheat, bread, light honey, light bubblegum, straw, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light earthy yeast spice on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon zest, banana, orange peel, pear, apple, clove, light pepper, wheat, bread, light honey, light bubblegum, straw, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, balance, and robustness of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and hops flavors; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent hefeweizen! All around great complexity, balance, and robustness of fruity/spicy yeast, pale, malt, and hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Bomber from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours translucent gold with a not very large white head. Aroma seems yeast/spice with banana ester notes. Med body or nearly. Spice is mild, and banana not all that powerful. Quenching it is. Lacking in flavor firmness for me. Does finish sort of wheat bitter.

Beany aroma with only light hints of babyfood banana. Cloudy yellow, thick head. Medium body. Banana and beans, but a bit more of the former now on the palate. Alcohol slightly noticeable. Not a great example of the style, nor a great beer.

Pours light gold into a shaker. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Sweet pepper aromas. Soft with sweet bubblegum and caramel upfront turning to pepper in the lasting finish.
