Small pour at Churhkey. Best beer of the trip so far. Dark, ruddy brown pour, scant beige head. Full, woody, boozy aroma. Taste brings in some chocolate and roast malts. Deceptively smooth and exceptionally tasty. 375ml bottle (thx, Chris S.!) at Matt's. Pours a very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is lots of bourbon notes and some roasted malt. Taste is similar, a bit silky, with pleasant bourbon and chocolate notes. Good one.

Tasting at Matt's; bottled 2017
Black colour with brown head. The aroma is very interesting, there is a lot going on, Christmas pudding, rum, cardboard, dark malts, tobacco; but the body is boozy and thinner than expected, lightly sweet, with dark malts, bourbon, tobacco.
Great aroma, the rest is so-and-so.

Dark brown. On the nose, there's nice toffee accents, some barrel, maybe peanuts. There's a nice fruity accent, with a plum note, and a toasty thing. A touch of fruitiness and maybe some sourness, but balanced with a touch of sweetness. Decent.

375mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is quite intense, with loads of whiskey barrels, followed by medium roast, and a touch of cocoa. Flavour is along the same lines, with heaps of bourbon and whiskey barrels, with medium roast, and light alcohol. Lots of whiskey and barrel character. Excellent.

375 ml corked and crowned bottle. Opaque black brown color. Large pillowy tan head. Big roasted malt nose hints at cocoa and oak. Rich chocolatey malt flavor upfront. Smooth creamy mouthfeel. Notes of oak and bourbon resonate through out. Warming alcohol notes in finish. Deliciously outstanding.

375 ml bottle into snifter, bottled on 11/16/2017. Difficult cork removal. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, nuttiness, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, molasses, licorice, leather, tobacco, smoke, raisin, plum, fig, cherry, and roast/toast/oak earthiness. Incredible aromas with fantastic complexity and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, vanilla, cocoa, and bourbon barrel notes; with great strength. Rich and intense, with zero booziness. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, nuttiness, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, molasses, licorice, leather, tobacco, smoke, raisin, plum, fig, cherry, and roast/toast/oak earthiness. Light roast bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, nuttiness, dark/brown bread, coconut, leather, tobacco, dark fruit, light molasses/licorice, and roast/toast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, vanilla, cocoa, and bourbon barrel flavors; with an awesome roasted bitter/sweet and bourbon/oak spiciness balance; with zero cloying/acrid flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full body; with a very smooth, creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal chalky roast, oak tannins, or dryness. Alcohol is extremely well hidden; a mildly increasing warmth of 12%, with zero barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is an amazing BBA imperial stout! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, vanilla, cocoa, and bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV; with the very mildly bitter/drying finish. Extremely rich malt complexity, perfect bourbon barrel integration, and complementing vanilla/cocoa spice notes that blend in perfectly. A highly enjoyable offering. They really nailed this one.
