From a pint can. Pours a clear copper with an off white head. Aromas of hay. Flavors are bitter citrus.

Giant caramel bomb of a DIPA, tons of malt sweetness offset by a modest citric hop punch backed with toast and pine. Calling this pint malt-forward would be an understatement; it's more of an American Strong Ale than an Imperial IPA, what with the hops serving mostly to balance out the hardcore caramel running throughout. A little bit of wet cardboard funkiness rounds out the back end. Fairly creamy and drinkable for 8.5%. And, while I wish the hops were dialed up at least a little bit, I haven't quit drinking yet. Kinda grows on you, I guess, once you realize this pint's more about old-school boozy maltiness than face-burning juicy hop vitriol.

Just off from a crystal clear copper and light amber coloured body with a small, single centimetre all pure white head that fades pretty quickly. Aroma of alcohol, resin, light malts, cardboard and a ton of astringent alcohol and medicinal notes - quite potent and not very pleasing. Medium-bodied; Strong nutty flavours from somewhere (malt) with a dose of grain, cardboard, funk, yeast, alcohol, fruits (apples) and a bit more of the astringent malt and alcohol noticeable here, but no real hops to speak of and the bitterness only from the funky malt and alcohol combination. Aftertaste shows some pungency from the grain, alcohol and very subtle grassy and resinous hops that shows funk and alcohol with no real sweetness and no bitterness at all - this is perhaps more of a biscuity, grainy IPA and way further removed from an Imperial IPA. Overall, a pretty poor beer throughout with only some moderate malt and yeast flavours to make this partially decent, but there is almost no discernable hop or bitter flavours to make this even close to any sort of IPA and thus making this a misnomer at best, but just an overall poor beer in generality. I sampled this pint-sized can purchased from the Good Bottle Company in Charlotte, North Carolina on 09-May-2018 for US$3,75 sampled at home in Washington on 15-June-2018.

I wasn't too impressed by this one. It seemed like a flawed example of the style as well as a slightly overly boozy one. This isn't a horrible beer or anything, but it was one of my least favorite new DIPAs I have tried recently. I definitely didn't order a second.

Pours a slightly hazy, dark amber/light brown with a generous off-white head. Light malt aroma. The flavor is lightly sweet. No hops in the flavor or aroma anywhere. Nothing going on here resembling any sort of IIPA. Thin. A Strong Ale of some sort?

Split a 22oz bomber with some co-workers that I brought back from NC over Labor Day weekend. Poured a dark bronze color with a small white tan head. Aroma was some heavy resin notes, pine, boozy caramel notes. Flavor was nice heavy malt notes, some caramel, resin, pine. Herbal. Pretty tasty.

On tap at Honey Tupelo Cafe. Translucent dark amber with small beige head. Aroma is grapefruit hops, medium body, medium carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is grapefruit, some resin, a little herbal hops, and long bitter finish. Not one the best for the style, but not bad.

Bomber from Appalachian Vintner shared at the Baltimore Late Late Summer Gathering, 9/14/13. Pours a very dark bronze color with a thin frothy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of earthy, dank, resin hops, raw grain, caramel. The taste is bitter resin, pine, herbal hops. Caramel malts with a bit of toastiness. Medium bodied, strong lingering bitterness, fairly raw and green but a solid DIPA.
