Cricket Hill American Ale is an easy drinking “amber” ale with a wonderful balance of caramel sweetness and hop flavor. The aroma has a slight note of citrus and rock candy. There is not an imported ale on the market that tastes this fresh.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA, 8/30/10. Pours a clear amber color with a moderate white head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel malts, nutty notes, earthy hops and stone fruits. The taste is caramel, toasted malts and a leafy hop finish. Medium bodied.

Bottle from Half Time. It’s a wild foamer. Clear copper with an off-white head. Roast caramel aroma with a citrus hint. Fullish body with a very foamy carb. Amber/caramel malt with moderate citrus hop. Wild thing! S’ok, but don’t make my heart sing.

Draft: Tinny malt nose. Clear copper, medium yellow head, nice lacing. Tinny barley malt flavor, with toasted chestnut accents. Metallic dried leaf finish. Pretty good if not for the persistent metallic qualities.

Bottle. Decent Amber Ale. Could have a stronger hop component, and less of a malty sweetness. Poured Light amber-red with a medium, white head. Nose of mostly caramel malt, faint hops. Flavor is mostly sweet, with hints of earthy hops coming towards the end. Finishes sweet with light bitterness. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

12oz bottle sampled at home. Pours a nearly transparent, copper amber with a lacing, clumping white head. Malty aroma, crackers, some biscuit, some orange. Flavor is sweet and malty, a little caramel, oranges. Finish is a little dry. Easy drinker, nice but not revolutionary.

Pours copper with gold edges. The aroma is corn, sweet malts and hints of vague hops. The taste has a pulse of pine hops moving into corn, sweet malts and floral hops. The floral and pine hops both usher this thing into the finish. Tastes better than it smells.

courtesy of retorp. Pours copper, white head. Aroma of corn, some hops. Taste is hoppy, light malts, sweet with a over use of corn like sweetness with light bitter hops in the finish. Another one from this brewery that falls flat

Thanks to decaturstevo for sharing this one. Clear, light amber body with a thin white head. Musky earthy aroma, some malt comes through. No real malt sweetness nor hop bitterness in the flavor. Thin, watery, disappointing.
