Anything but a typical American Pale, Santa Fe Pale Ale is as full bodied as its most robust English counterparts, while asserting its American origin with a healthy nose resplendent with Cascade and Willamette hops. It finishes with a well-balanced combination of the subtle, almost Pilsner-like maltiness accentuated by…

Pour is a clear copper with a large white head. Aroma is sweet malt and that is not even that strong. Flavor is more caramel malt then anything else with hops no where in the picture. This was bland, utterly flavorless and down right poor.

Tap at route 66 Lounge, Albuquerque International Sunport, 22/05/13. Clear golden amber with a decent sized off white head. Nose is pale malt, light citrus, hint of hops. Taste comprises light hops, grass, citrus, pale malts, caramel. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, crisp clean finish. Entry level pale ale but drinkable.

Sawdust nose. Clear amber, medium yellow head. Malt forward, with a light grassiness. Alcohol is evident. Balanced but tame. Finally, a New Mexico tick!

Bottle @ home. Clear, burnt orange appearance with a white head. Slightly citrusy, toasty, light caramel, mild earthy, citrus hoppy aroma. Clean, slightly today, light caramel malty, tame citrusy, earthy hoppy, almost German-like flavor. Solid beer.

5/10/2011 355ml. bottle @ Nate's place (2011-530) Thanks to Nate for sharing the bottle!

Clear dark orange to amber beer, creamy off-white head, pretty stable, non adhesive. Aroma: exotic fruits, some malts, sweet peaches, bit of resin. MF: soft carbon, light to medium body. Taste: toasted malts, dry resinous hops, bit of citrus, little fruity, bitter. Aftertaste: fruity and bitter.

Golden-amber and bright. The aroma is light, herbal and with a hint of caramel. Low to medium bitterness. Slightly earthy with caramel sweetness underlying. Not in the hop range I like in an APA.

I love the Sante Fe brewing labels and artwork. The 12oz bottle poured clear copper with off white head. The aroma is a little stale and dank with earthy recently wet basement and a mix of sweet malts and spicy hops. The taste send up semi firm notes of bitter spicy hops mixing with lesser amounts of citrus and pine and a bit of floral around the edges. Behind the hops notes are background murmurs of sweet malts, stale malts and earthiness. Interesting brew.

Hazy copper ale - impressive lace - nose provides a rich maltiness not typically associated with the style, but is quite welcome - earthy american hops hide underneath - earthy, woody hops up front in the flavor, but this is followed by a smooth, rich malt profile and a light estery character - an interesting take, and quite a tasty one at that.

12oz bottle. Murky orange-brown. Thin, lacy head. Mild, mellow aroma. A pretty solid APA, medium bodied and very sessionable. The lack of filtration really works with this one, as the yeast gives it smooth mouthfeel. Subdued and balanced, everything about this beer is mild. Pretty decent stuff.
