The malt bill gives a subtle nutty & toasty flavors and the chocolate malt provides a rich cocoa flavor with aromas that range from roasted coffee to chocolate-covered dark fruits. The hops used provides excellent bitterness in relation to the chocolate notes of the malt. The flavor and aroma provide clean floral, fruity and herbal notes. A light dose of hops brings balance to all.

12oz can. Very sweet for the style. Sugary, rich, thick. Almost a maple touch. Not that enjoyable for the style, kind of thin, lacking, but also syrupy at the same time.

Classic old-school American brown ale, i.e. not very good. Lots of cascara and metallic tang, with a hint of water from copper pipes and cocoa. Finishes with lemon and a slight bit of pine. Would’ve loved this twenty-five years ago. Not so much now.

3 week old can A: Poured 1/2 of thick tan foam retaining well atop very clear mahogany colored body. S: Bitter chocolate, toffee and roast. T: Also chocolate and light roast coffee notes. Some herbal and lightly citrusy hops are present for balance. M: Medium light weight with fine soft carbonation and a powdery finish. O: I like a light balanced to hoppy brown and this one fits the bill nicely. I just wish I didn't have to buy a mixed 12 to get it.

Tap public house. Yes a darker brown brew. Mild nose. First taste is interesting dark beer attribute which has a mild personality, right up my alley. In the middle of the session this brew has a tad of dark roasted charred bitterness. Just enough to let you know its an ale. Quite good, not bad.

From bottle it is a clear dark amber color with a tan head. The Aroma is of nutty and it has a thin ale flavor that had a sweet fruity finish

Keg at Thirsty Monk - Ashevill, NC during RBWG 2014. Pours clear, golden-brown with a creamy topping. Basic brown ale, with simple brown bread sweetness, low bitterness. Light bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish with further bready malts, faint caramel. Decent.
