Schlafly Tasmanian IPA is brewed with 100% Australian hops. The Tasmanian hop, Galaxy, is a strong, aromatic variety that is different from traditional strains of the Pacific Northwest. Our brewers developed a recipe that showcases the hop’s unique flavors of citrus and pineapple.

Strong onion, scallion, and orange peel aroma. Hazy amber, medium head. Scallion, orange, and lemon zest flavor. Finishes garlicky. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Probably fun to pair with food, but I don’t get the attraction. Vegetal flavors whether from infection or these types of hops are just off-putting to me. Then again, I felt that way about phenols and other wild yeast products, and I’ve learned to enjoy them.

bottle - Pours golden with a small, lasting head and good lacing. It has a good citrus aroma. This is a tasty brew with crisp bitterness, a medium body, citrus character, and a pleasant, bitter finish. Very well done.

Bottle: Poured an orangey color ale with a rather large foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma consists of fruity and tropical hoppy notes with some light sweet notes. Taste is also dominated by some nice tropical and fruity notes with some light residual sugar notes. Body is quite full with good carbonation. Solid use of hops form down –under countries.

Rich golden and orange coloured body with a dense, three centimetre tall just off-white head. Aroma of pungent grapefruit, pineapple, passionfruit and resinous hop notes - with some great scents throughout. Medium to Slightly-Full-Bodied; Strong resinous and piney hop flavour at first with a quite large malt backbone then showing some slightly sweet notes of honey and candy sugar, all fading to a very nice pineapple flavour. Aftertaste shows a great balance, but it’s heaviness shows more alcohol and sugars than hops. Overall, a great single origin IPA with a nice set of flavours and some depth from the malt and sugars. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Arrowine in Arlington, Virginia, sampled after a hockey game on 30-October-2013 - Thanks Kevin!
