750 ml bottle. batch 12, bottled 11/20/13. From Super Kappy’s. Cloudy amber pour with fast dying head. Nose is insanely herbaceous. Rosemary, peppercorn, parsley and flowers. Flavor is just dominated by herbs. Rosemary is off the chain here. The flavor is just like the aroma. Damn… can you say herb garden? Dry texture with a mild yeasty flavor. Pretty intense brew.

Bottle shared from Chris. Looks like he grabbed it in November. Split 3 ways in a snifter.

A - Murky, cloudy blood red, 1 finger white head that’s persistent.

S - Nose is an explosion of floral characters and pepper hits the back of the thread. Honey and roses.

T - The lazy review here is that this is a freaking salad in a glass. The peppercorn spice, honey, celery, flowers, cabbage, more honey and hibiscus.

M - Burst of carbonation, dry and sweet

O - This is an interesting beers. It has all of the right yeast characters I love but the spice is a huge detractor. Still was nice to have.

Draft at the brewery taproom - Boston. Pours cloudy gold with a thick, frothy off-white head. Spicy, herbal nose, some rosemary and rose. Light-medium sweet flavor with pale, lightly doughy bread, some ripe citrus, light floral notes. Medium bodied with average to lively carbonation. Moderately sweet finish with some mellow grassy bitterness, floral notes, grapefruit. Lovely stuff.

750mL bottle, batch 12, bottled 11/20/13, drunk 1/7/14.
Peachy-amber hued beer has plentiful, well-retained off-white head and there is a very healthy layer of sediment on the bottom. Small bubbles rise rapidly in the mostly-clear liquid.
Very peppery nose! I saw on their website the first batch didnt go very well as they didnt crush the peppercorns. Well, they’ve certainly crushed a lot in this batch. Sweet, doughy, pale malts attempt to balance the nose, with light vinousness coming through on the end. Rosemary is there, but not overbearingly so. Plenty of powerful things going on...not sure how cohesive this is though...
So with not much of an idea of what to expect, I dive in to the glass. ROSEMARY. Like dunking my head in to a bath of it. Wow. It barely leaves any room for the peppercorn at first and seems incredibly overdone. The finish finds room for some maltiness, moderately attenuated, full of honey dough and sweet cream. It’s helpful in balancing the rosemary, but may be a bit forceful itself sweetness-wise. Thankfully, about 15 minutes in to the bottle, or so, my palate adjusted to the rosemary and I was getting far less of it and quite a bit of a vanilla-yogurt-like flavor. Far more enjoyable, but still backed by the slightly overbearing maltiness.
A strange beer, for sure. Seems like they just need to age the beer (off the peppercorns) a little longer. This one still seemed too rough around the edges. And tone down the rosemary, for sure. Otherwise, the mouthfeel, bottle conditioning and general production of the beer were fantastic. Looking forward to more from these guys.

on tap&growler-white-gold. A-acidic, oak, lt/med malt, some spice. T-acidic/citric tartness, lt/med malt, oak, spice. An extra bite (tartness) hits as each mouthful hits the back of the throat.

Belgian Beer Fest Boston. Booklet said 7% ABV, but the description matches this beer. Murky light amber color. Aroma of flowery spice. Taste is slightly boozy and slightly sour flowers. Decent.
