Bottle@Yesprs - Dark Amber brown pour small off-white head. Aroma and taste is sweet malty, with some caramel and toffee notes, some Christmas spices in there as well. Not bad.

’Massieve ale’ by Huisbrouwerij Keun brewed at De Graal. Thick and sticky, dense, frothy, yellowish beige head, deep burgundy colour, misty. Aroma immediately releases unmistakable iron along with caramelly malts, even caramel candy-like, dried leaves, candied dates, banana, toast, grass, bubblegum and a hint of bayleaf. Soft fruity taste, banana, pear, raisins, soft carbo, sourish accent, the iron in the nose coming through in the middle - and frankly I have no idea what it is doing there apart from ruining the palate. Fluffy caramelly maltiness becomes a bit toasted in the end, with a leafy, bittering hoppiness in the finish but only mildly so as is custom in this style; a touch of warming, even slightly astringent, brandy-like alcohol shows up as well. Not completely flawed, but clearly needs a lot more finetuning. And please try to eliminate the iron!

Bottle @ home. Clear dark orange to reddish color, medium sized beige to light brown head. Aroma is lightly malts, perfume, banana, sweetness, candy. Weird stuff if you ask me. Tastes like (Dutch) "banaantjes" (some kind of banana - shaped very sweet candy) and again a bit perfumy. Very weird, and I don’t like it.

Thick yellow-cream head, gone in secs over hazy cola-coloured beer. Aromatic, rather perfumey nose; rainwater, herbs, sweet spices as cinnamon and clove. Again sweet spices in the mouth, mixed with meaty flavours as from poultrystock. Herbs, spices (cardamom, clove, cinnamon). Essentially sweet main flavour with a faint sourish lining, obvious CO² helping. Very spritzy, near fizzy; pretty well-bodied, slick. I would expect this flavourprofile from an X-mas ale. In that case, this is definitely a good one.
