500 ml bottle purchased at One Stop Market Haverhill, MA. No bottle date or ABV marked on the bottle. Deep Crimson ruby color, no head. Aroma of candy sugar, dried fruits, Belgian yeast and note of chocolate. Flavor is right on point with the aroma and very good. Don’t know the age of the bottle (sat in cellar for about a year) no alcohol flavor at all, very smooth after the sip. Not the most complex in the style but it is well crafted with all the proper flavors. Worth a sample for sure.

I gotta tell a story about these guys. I stopped by, and they only had one beer on tap, which I had already tried. While that was an awesome beer, and I had no problem with that being the only option, pull this bottle, unlabeled, out of a case, stuck on a label and sold it to me for four bucks. They also marked down a second bottle, so I walk out of there with two quality beers in large formats for $8. They didn’t have to do that, and they did. Massive karma to those guys. So, well, bottle from the brewery. About 18 months on it. Pours a dark rust-brown color with a thin head that quickly fades. Aroma of dark fruits, brown sugar, mild chocolate. The taste is dark fruits, citrus, toffee malts, mild bread and spice. Medium bodied, alcohol is prickly but not hot, low carbonation, no oxidation. Solid quad that has aged pretty well.

50cl bottle pours a hazy, caramel amber with some clumpy, beige head. Nose of caramel, candle wax, brown sugar, some prune, raisin. Flavor is sweet, prunes, brown sugar. Full, sweet finish.

A curios looking little bottle stared out at me from the shelf at Redstone today and I couldn’t help but bring the little fellow home with me. Pours a deep brown with beautiful garnet highlights when held to light and a decent off white head that quickly dissipates to a cap on top. Well she’s got all the right aromas. Dark fruits, dark sugars, a hint of chocolate and lots of caramel tell me this is a quad. The flavor is sweet and fruity up front with a bit of oxidation creeping in. Burnt sugars and caramel mix with a bit of chocolate and ash into the finish. Medium body with a light to moderate level of carbonation and a sweet burnt sugary mouthfeel. This is a decent enough beer, but frankly nothing special. For the style the carbonation is too low, the body feels a little thin and it leans heavy towards the molasses and burnt sugar end when I would have like to have seen some more raisin, prune, plum flavors. Technically there is nothing wrong with this beer and I wouldn’t hesitate to drink it again, but at $9 for 500ml I wouldn’t seek it out either.

Pours cloudy mahogany into a tulip. Sickly off-white head with little retention mottles surface. Sweet multigrain bread aromas. Medium bodied with pit fruit upfront turning slightly sour in the lasting bready finish.

Bottle. Murky dark brown color, tan edge head. Aroma of slightly sour coffee grounds. Taste is similar.
