A well-structured Czech style pilsner. TORCH is strong in alcohol with a rich, full finish. Good mouth feel and well-balanced Czech Saaz hops ensure that TORCH is not your typical pilsner.

22 oz. bottle. Pale yellow color, with a medium, bubbly, off-white head. Lots of pine and resinous hops in the nose, with some grainy and musty notes and coriander. Very bitter for a pilsener, with some coarse, herbal sweetness. Medium body, very astringent, and crisp. Long, bitter aftertaste. Overall, this is too strong and too hop forward for a good pils. This would be okay, but the aroma is brash and the aftertaste is unpleasant.

Grainy and floral, grass, dandelion, and lillies on the nose. Clear yellow, medium sticky head. Flavor is lightly sweet, slightly vegetal, tinny. Grass is dominant, but lesser floral notes remain. Alcohol is fairly evident. I may be being too hard on pilsners lately, but this pilsner, while enjoyable, was lacking a certain clean quality I look for in this style.

Bomber from Ross. Nose is light amounts of caramel and hints of grassy hops. Clear orange yellow with a medium yellow head. Flavor is moderate bitterness with some slight sweetness and caramel. Would be a decent session beer at 5.3%.

A golden pils with a thin lacing white head. in aroma, nice caramel malt with smooth mineral qualities. In mouth, a classic pils with German hops, oily mouthfeel, well done. On tap at the brewpub, August 13, 2011.

Poured from a growler at kp’s cellar party. Dissipating, but decent white head over a clear gold body. Strong hop aroma. Hoppy, overly bitter for the style with a long bitter finish. The malt never gets a chance here. Good Bohemian Pilsners are favorites of mine and this needs just a bit of tweaking to get it all the way there.
