Location: Updating this rating with a draft sampling from the Brewpub, Harrisburg location, 6/13/10

Aroma: The nose is roasted malts, some coffee, and creamy coffee/mocha notes
Appearance: The pour is black, with some drops of lace on the glass
Flavor: The taste is on the dry side, with lots of malty notes to it
Palate: The body was on the smoothish side, medium-full, short finish
Overall Impression: This was certainly not as bad as my last rating would indicate, I wonder why I had such a poor impression the last time. It gets a pretty decent sized bump from me from a 2.6 to 3.3.

Sept 2008 Beer of the Month Club

Overall Impression: They sent me this and the wheat, and I've got to say the wheat was probably better. I like a good Stout, but this one was average at best, and probably below average, for its style, while the Wheat was pretty solid for its style. Maybe the issue is that the nose and look were better then the beer.

Draft at the Gettysburg location, July 2006. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma isvery sweet with light notes of bourbon, roasted malt, and mocca. The flavor is sweetmlaty with light roasted notes combined with notes of prunes and mocca, leading to a dry and bitter end, the bitterness primarily coming from the roasted malt. The mouthfeel is very smooth.
