This beer is a dark brown color with a hint of red around the edges. Medium light tan head that dissipates steadily, and partial rings of lacing. Aroma of caramel malt and brown sugar, with a touch of hops. Medium body with a sweet malty presence augmented by caramel and graham cracker flavors, plus some mild hops in the background. The finish is peaty malt with a short sweet aftertaste. Pretty average overall.

A reddish copper ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, nice nutty malt with light vanilla and cinnamon notes. In mouth, a light nutty and grainy malt, sweet and smooth, a bit light bodied, but decent. On tap at brewery restaurant, April 10th, 2011.

Clear brown coloured body with a nice light ruby and copper glow and a thin, non-impressive tan head. Aroma of cardboard, malt, raisins, caramel, nuts and a bit of very light hops - again, pretty dull and bland. Medium-bodied; Assertive nutty character and a little earthy bite coupled with a good amount of pit fruit and raisin sweetness. Aftertaste shows a little hop taste, a good amount of malt and a very defined raisin and fig sweetness. Overall, an interesting Scotch - more body than I expected and a good sweetness shows nicely, but it still isn’t an amazing beer. A good representation and a slight variation on the style. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from the Opera House Gourmet in Manassas, Virginia on 12-March-2011 sampled at home two days later on 14-March-2011 in Washington.

Bottle. Beer of the month club. Hazy deep red to brown color with a medium bubbly beige head. Aroma of malt, caramel, biscuits, a bit of cookies and some chocolate and nougat notes. Very sweet and malty flavor with caramel, biscuits, sugar, fruits and a bit of chocolate. Light-medium-bodied. Too sweet and really not my thing.

0.33L bottle, almost no head, clear light brown to dark red colour, malty aroma with oxidised notes and a hints of nuts, flavour of bread, barnyard and candy sweetness with hints of dark chocolate and cognac, lond sweet and a little sour aftertaste. Sweetness a little too dominating but still quite a good brew.

Served on draft at the Gettysburg location. Pours a clear reddish copper color with a medium sized head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of faint caramel and bitter citrus. The taste is caramel, cherry like fruity notes and a faint nuttiness. Thin and watery. Disappointing.
