Bottle at Bruce’s pad, big thanks to Paulo for grabbing this one, 16/01/14. Light black with a moderate tan covering that dissipates to a swirl and edgework. Nose is roast malt, coffee, earthy cocoa, light Jimml, dark toffee fudge. Taste comprises roasty tones, chocolate, coffee, sublte Beam, brown sugars. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, smooth on the palate, pitch perfect carbs. Very easy drinker, nice to have a solid flavoursome BA stout in the 7% range!

Bottle from Siren. It pours darkest brown with a small beige/ tan head. The nose is charred wood, toast, earth, dark chocolate, light smoke and a touch of spice. The taste is smooth, deep chocolate, roasty, coffee, toffee, charred aspect, light spice and some alcohol warmth with a dry finish. Medium+ body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Tasty and well-integrated stuff, but the Buffalo Trace version pips it to the post.

Keg at the Tap East Birthday Bash - Stratford, London. Pours dark brown with a fine, beige foam head. The nose has lots of toasty malts and vanilla. Medium sweet flavor with more vanilla, light chocolate, mellow roasted malts, some dark fruits. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Superb balance on the finish, some light dry and burnt wood, chocolate, dry vanilla. Just excellent balance overall. Wonderfully drinkable and nicely nuanced.
