Subtle amounts of malts and hops make for a clean and crisp ale.

This American Pale Ale has a subtle malty character with noticeable hop flavor and aroma. Three classic American hop varieties add complexity to this incredibly drinkable beer. At the end of every glass, you will discover how this pale ale got its name.

Bottle. Very nice citrus/floral aromas. Clear amber color with a white head. Near medium body and moderate carbonation. Flavors are very fruity (citrus and could be mango), and there is some roasted malt that just about balances. The finish is fairly dry and quite bitter. And the bitter builds. Really great ale.

355ml bottle @ RBNAG’07. Hazy orange body with a dense off-white head. Aroma of peaches, mango and grapefruit. Flavor is clean malt with a balanced sourness from citrus fruit and a fine dry bitter finish. Really nice balance between sweet and sour. A bit thin body, but nice anyway.

The scales on this one tip more toward the malts than the hops. Murky amber pour. Short, off-white head. Aromas is bready with some notes of caramel and earthiness. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Medium body leaves a thick mouthfeel. Limited carbonation. Not near as hoppy and crisp as I associate with an APA.

12 fl. oz bottle, thanks to BA richgo6. 12.5 degrees Plato, 36 IBU. ABV is 5.1%.
Amber coloured beer, decent off-white head. Very nice aroma of fruity hops, notes of grapefruit, rambutan and blackcurrant leaves, hints of toffee and resin too. The flavour is maltier and less hoppy than the aroma made me expect, but the hops are still noticeable. Moderate resiny notes, some sweetness, quiet finish. Not bad.

This one came to me in my beer club. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bronze color with large orange-white head. The aroma was fairly strong sour grapefruit and pine. The flavor was sour nutty malts and strong grapefruit and pine. There is an interestingly complex sweet and tart nature to this beer. I am surprised it is not rated higher.

bottle - Pours amber and clear with a one finger head. There’s a good hoppy aroma. The flavor is moderately bitter with the hops bite I expect from an APA. There’s a moderate body and the hops carry through to the finish. It’s not complicated or outstanding, but this is a fairly solid brew.

This starts out with a small head of off-white over a clear orange/amber body. Light flowery hops and malt aroma. Moderately bitter throughout, dry finish. Seems to be more of an English Pale than American but in any case, I fail to pick out any particular hop variety much less an American one. Overall this isn’t a bad brew. The commercial description is a good summary. Thanks to Dough77 for sending this one.

Bready and moderately hoppy - medium-bodied - quite yeasty - quite a clean and dry finish - nothing really sets this apart from its peers - quite british in style (reminds me of a standard english bitter) - so-so.

Bottle, best before 1/12/2006, consumed on 12/10/05. Pours a copper-amber, clear. Mostly diminishing (to ring) white head is foamy. No lacing. Aroma is lightly citric hops, some faint perfuminess on the very end. Light white-dough biscuits and other than that, no malt or yeast apparency in the nose. Flavor is citric hopped, fruity (dry orange and lemon zest) and very very dry overall. Most basic of light pale malts add barely any sweetness. Low bitterness. Lively carbonation, rather watery. Very standard, generic example, though even a bit too dry and papery. Light dirtiness on end as well. I get the feeling the Two Brothers beers we are getting in Massachusetts are not in top shape.
