Draught at Novare Res, 3/6/16.
Deep orange-copper colored body shows a very gentle haze and a large, off-white head that shows moderate retention.
Fruity, almost juicy hops in the nose give way to tons of bread. Light sourdough and, unfortunately, a bit of iced tea-like crystal malt. Black and white pepper phenols, tons of dry, yellow fruit esters and no alcohol or flaw.
In the mouth, I can’t help but be put-off by the crystal malt. It adds a very husky/scratchy character and the beer is borderline too dry. The juiciness of the hops and enjoyable esters definitely save it, while the ample carbonation keeps it fairly crisp on the end. I get theyre trying to simulate the more rustic malts of days past, but I really am hard pressed to enjoy this much specialty malt apparency in my saisons. Sure it comes off nicely rustic and with complex malt/grain characteristics, but the resulting texture is lacking, as well as there being too much breadiness and scratchiness. All that being said, it’s only 4% abv and still a well-brewed beer, so I can certainly appreciate just sucking it up and drinking it.
Draught at the brewery, 10/21/16 and Gravity Cask at Goods From The Woods, 10/22/16.
It was a bit softer on cask, unsurprisingly, with a little bit more maltiness coming through, but despite retrying this thing, I just can’t get past the big, grainy, bready specialty malt character. I love dry, but this goes just a bit too far, IMO.

3oz pour at Max’s Belgian Fest 2016 pours a hazy, dark gold/orange with some cloudy, white head. Nose has some melon hust, a little orange, some watery tea, quite grainy. Flavor is very grainy, soggy grist, a little plastic, soggy bread, orange. Mostly dry finish, lightly tannic too.

Draft at Pizzeria Paradiso. Poured a hazy copper color, with a small white head. Aroma funky yeast notes, some sweet flowers and honey notes. Very easy to drink due to low alcohol.

Growler from the source. Lightly hazy dark golden color with a decent sized white head. Bready, cereal grains, earthy lightly funky with hints of fruit and light sugar. Crushable flavorful ale, I’m surprised this isn’t rated higher, I could enjoy drinking this all night.

Tap at Birreria Paradiso Georgetown. Unfiltered red-brown-orange. Soapy off-white/beige head. Doughy, almost Bierre de Garde body. Nice floral, peppery yeast and hop balance. Medium body, quite easy and mellow on the palate. Earthy, faint mild nutty caramel. Quite well balanced.

Draft @ Great Lost Bear. 5 oz. taster. Clear amber color, or I see that from the poor lighting. Nose is light Belgian yeast with mild citrus. Body is light with a nice effervescent mouth feel. Flavor is mostly just as the nose. Very straight forward and easy to drink.
